DMX Krew (live)
Jorg Kunning (live)
Next up we have a collaboration that has been brewing since 92 and 94 respectively. Bakk-Heia and Floats & Boats are proud to present DMX Krew for a special off-the-chain acid electro live set at our spiritual home, The White Hotel.
Ed (DMX) has been knocking out that good gear consistently since the mid 90s, operating in the peripheries of the underground, without a whiff of mainstream indulgence. A child of the synthesised revolution, Ed absorbed 80s pop, becoming infatuated especially with the other-wordly sounds produced by drum machines, synthesisers and samplers.
Inspired to replicate these cold yet strangely human noises Ed got his hands on his first bits of hardware, namely some cheapo Casio keyboards and a Yamaha home keyboard (with an inbuilt mega snazzy drum machine!) and got cracking. After a few years attempting to recreate US Electro and Detroit Techno, Ed realised that shit is better off left to the yanks, and started on his own path of righteous originality.
A couple of smaller 12”s later Ed got a call from Aphex Twin’s Rephlex record label who went on to release his first album, and with whom he continued to work until the label was discontinued. Since then Ed has released music on a tonne of mint labels, notably WeMe, CPU, Hypercolor and Luke Eargoggles Stilleben Records as well as his own labels Breakin’ and Fresh Up.
His musical output encompasses Acid, Italo, Bleeps, Electro, Boogie, Funk, House and Techno - all killer no filler ya feel?
We are extremely excited to welcome DMX Krew down to our strange little garage in Salford. Machine dreamers this one’s for you.
Jorg Kuning (Bakk-Heia)
Jorg’s live set’s for Bakk-Heia are the stuff of flippin legend. He absolutely tore the roof off the sucka at our show with Josh Cheon last year, elevating his status from humble knob twiddler to full blown man-machine. For those that have yet to be introduced, Jorg’s music is a dance-floor ready mix of bleeps, boops, tumps, thumps and the occasional diminished 7th chord. It’s music that is built for big tonkin' sound systems set up in dark sweaty rooms, trust us man, this guy is the business.
