So They Say is a new party from New York DJ Lex Rodriguez supporting the works of queer, trans and POC artists. Lex is a Minneapolis transplant who now calls Brooklyn home. They are devoted to breaking barriers and elevating QTPOC voices in nightlife and beyond. A champion of vinyl formatting and a fierce technician deeply committed to their craft, they weave webs with rhythmic and vocally-driven shades of deep atmospheric music. Their storytelling-style programming takes listeners on a journey through all kinds of genres.
Lex's guest tonight is Maxime Robillard, aka Love Letters, a deeply emotive, Queens-native producer with releases out on Help Recordings, CGI Records and Yield. A true tastemaker of ambient, left-field house and techno, Maxime is affiliated with Halcyon the Shop and is one of the founding members of Hypnotic Spa. Being “more of a lover than a fighter,” expect this renegade to bring straight heat right out of the gate of jacking tracks and heady bangers. Come move with other like-minded individuals in a space geared towards freedom of expression and inclusivity. Dress to sweat!
Nowadays is an indoor and outdoor gathering place on the border of Bushwick and Ridgewood. We've got a full bar, a kitchen, a nice sound system, a wood dance floor and lots of trees and house plants.
Most of the time, it's free to come to Nowadays, but we do have a cover for some of our nighttime events. If there's a cover but you're a little tight on dough, you can buy early bird tickets on RA, or RSVP for reduced entry on Fridays and Saturdays at http://nowadays.nyc/rsvp
We want Nowadays to be a comfortable space for everyone. Please treat everyone with respect when you're here. If someone says or does anything to make you feel uncomfortable, let us know. All of our bartenders, security, managers, sound staff and door staff can help you.
Also, for the sake of the vibe, please don't take pictures or use your phone on or around the dance floor.
Thanks! And we look forward to seeing you soon.
