GFOTY, Spinee, Mattu, SaNTINO, Stolen Velour
After School Club presents a variety of extra-curricular activities, which are both fun and educational, from the likes of:
GFOTY – Girfriend of the Year. When she’s not counting stacks of money or dating a Love Island hunk, she’s most likely to be found in the studio recording her next greatest hits album. But on the 22nd of September she’ll be partying with us in Leeds, so lock up your boyfriends and get ready to DO ITTTT, even if you don’t want to.
SPINEE – Spinee’s sets blend a ferocious mix of happy hardcore, bubble-gum bass and distopian donk. Perhaps the most skilled DJ on the PC Music roster, her regular mixes on NTS radio have cemented her reputation as one of the most energetic and eclectic selectors on the scene, whilst her own productions demonstrate a collection of fierce and chaotic beats which are impossible not to dance to.
MATTU – Within his shimmering, otherworldly productions, Mattu sets the scene for a post-digital, utopian dance-party. Whilst his debut ‘Lightwaves’ was a forward-thinking electropop record with a modern and metropolitan feel, his recent collaborations with the likes of Manchester grime collective MPD have seen him expand his sonic palette and add a sense of Northern identity into the work. His eclectic skill-set as a producer have made him one to watch.
SANTINO – The Prince of the meme generation. Pulling influences from disco, soul and funk as well as contemporary, post-internet music trends, Santino’s specific brand of pop music bridges generations and blends genres to a dizzying, kaliescopic effect. His DJ sets allow him to explore his diverse range of inspirtions as well as airing tracks from his own different guises such as JELLY BON-BON.
Stolen Velour - Who is Stolen Velour? An illusive character, he believes his work is in fact incomparable to anything else in the sonic realm, instead likening his music to the plush scent of Lenor Fabric Softener and the literary works of Jacqueline Wilson. Whilst some stipulate him to be a long lost member of the Jonas bothers, others believe that he is a sentient computer algorithm, manifest in human form. Catch a rare glimpse of this international man of mystery on September the 22nd.
This is a non-school-uniform event.
