MikIX The Cat (Trouble & Bass/Paris)
Mikix is this young wild street cat coming from the noble art of breakdancing out of Paris suburbs. From Breakdance to 4x4 wombling bass rave production, Mikix came to production and djing by producing tapes for his dance needs...and well, you can easily check the results on the dancefloor...Massive Dance Music! Now based in Berlin, Mikix is already releasing on Drop the Lime's label Trouble & Bass, with a bag full of new tunes to unleash or his first ever Australian tour – mikix ready to let the tiger get out of the cat!
Called one of "France’s most interesting producers" in P2 Magazine, and with releases on some of the worlds most respected labels Mikix The Cat is one of Paris' most exciting new DJ's.
He resides on now legendary Brooklyn-based New York label Trouble & Bass (alongside AC Slater, Drop The Lime, and you know it takes some big bass to be welcomed into 'that' family) as one of their only overseas counterparts, and has releases out on Fabric London, and Sound Pellegrino, a division of the super hip Institubes, and the label of Orgasmic and Teki Latex. Instantly praised by world class DJs such as Edu K, Andy George, A1 Bassline, and DJ Craze and many more solely on the basis of his remix for Dousters "For Wierdos Only", his hard bass-driven rave bursts and banging yet subtle riddims always point in the direction of "a fun jam" . Influenced by the sparse sounds of the house music of now, the infamous rave culture of the 90's, and a rightful return to the African rhythms of his Beninese roots, channelled by his move from Paris to Berlin. House and Afro-Beat, peppered heavily with epic synth-centric rave elements, Mikix tunes are as dynamic as they are bangers.
Mikix The Cat has produced official remixes for tracks from the likes of Buraka Som Sistema, Drop The Lime, Curses!, Rico Tubbs, Kid606, Elle A, Rob Threezy, & Little Jinder, released on such forward thinking labels as Palms Out Sounds, Trouble & Bass Recordings, Tigerbeat6, Nightshifters, and Londons ever fresh, Fabric Records.
Aptly titled the Paris Bass King, this Frenchman definitely knows how to blow the speakers. Taking influences from his youth in hip hop, and early 20's in funk and house, Mikix now puts out tracks to reviews like this, "a slow-burning tech-funk groover that turns into a pumping mini fuzzy synth freestyle resembling a drunken cross-eyed bird's tweet with a build up that would make Magilla Gorilla jizz strawberry-banana-flavored smoothie in his pants" - Teki Latex. Wobble 4x4 basslines to face burning synths, to the highly percussive sound akion to funky house, Mikix takes the best bits of everything, and makes it his own.
