Here comes Lena Willikens, one of the few true eccentrics left in the modern DJ scene.
Good Room presents...
Ron Like Hell & Ryan Smith (Wrecked)
Karl Meier (Talker/Standards & Practices/Downwards)
Jake Reif (Device Control/ L.I.E.S./ Dark Entries)
Lena Willikens doesn’t play the hits. When she’s behind the decks, even her biggest fans often have no idea exactly what she’s playing, and that’s part of the magic. Willikens nimbly navigates electronic music’s darkest and most bizarre corners, sampling different temperatures, different moods and a dollop of chaos, just to keep things interesting. And although she herself doesn’t always know the final destination, when Willikens is at the helm, there’s no question that the journey is bound to be thrilling.
The German-born, Amsterdam-based DJ, producer, remixer and radio host returns to Good Room in September. She'll be joined by Ron Like Hell & Ryan Smith. The pair have been throwing the Wrecked parties around NYC since 2011, a party for gentleman who like the boom. Their taste spans across house, techno and disco and have played around the world from respected venues/parties such as Berghain to CockTail D'Amore in Berlin, Honey Soundsystem and Honcho in the US, and locally with Bunker, Good Room and more.
Standards & Practices label boss Karl Meier is celebrating the inaugural release of its new sister imprint, Double Standards, with Jake Reif in the Bad Room. 'The Spirit Module' EP is Reif's third record under the Device Control alias. He amalgamates his dance music obsessions (EBM, bleep techno, Chicago house) in a totally unique way that feels fresh and idiosyncratic, avoiding simple genre exercises or nostalgia for the sake of it.
