Interstellar Funk’s Australian debut! The Amsterdam DJ, producer & label head has been wowing home crowds long before he bagged a sought-after residency at now-departed venue Trouw, and more recently at it’s widely beloved successor, De School. His DJ sets, akin to his productions for labels like Dekmantel, Berceuse Heroique & Rush Hour showcase his love for the imperfections and eccentricities associated with left-of-centre analogue machine music. Be it within the new wave, electro, techno, jack-tracks or heavy electronics, he continually sets out to combine the unlikely, which can also be heard in his Private Eyes project for Young Marco’s Safe Trip label and in the lo-fi murkiness of his Faster Action project for L.I.E.S. Launched last year, his Artificial Dance label has become an outlet for new and old electronic music that fits into the DJ/producer’s intoxicating, otherworldly aesthetic with Electro, EBM, Industrial and Dub Techno leanings.
Tokyo’s Moko Shibata’s mechanical creations have made her one of Japan’s most sought after underground DJs and producers over the past few years. After her debut on Lovefingers’ ESP Institute, Moko’s cosmic rhythms have found home on Samo DJ’s Born Free & Discodromo’s CockTail d’Amore Music, pushing her tribal inspired, hypnotic sound further into experimental house, techno and disco territory. Not only a producer, Powder’s DJing backs up her production style with many influences. She’s been one of our favourite guest DJs of the past couple of years and we are truly psyched to welcome back Powder for her second time to Australia!
Another act that we’re extremely excited to have on board in a live style is Detlef Weinrich aka Tolouse Low Trax! Member of both Kreidler & Toresch, Weinrich’s TLT project is known for its atmospheric new-wave-sharpness and a cushioned beat rate between 107 and 116 bpm. As a resident DJ and co-owner of the Dusseldof-based club & bar Salon Des Amateurs (home to DJs like Lena Wilikens, Jan Schulte & more), his recorded tracks breathe the hypnotic power of his DJ sets, where he arranges diverse rhythms between krautrock, cosmic, electronic and acid through his raw, groove-based neo-industrial loops.
Spanish-born, Berlin-based Alienata is a self-proclaimed sound obsessive. A former student of philosophy with a keen interest in mysticism, Alienata began DJing in 2000 and her selections span electro, acid, dub, IDM, dark disco, jackbeat, cosmic jazz, industrial, breakbeat and tripped out sonics in general. Alienata has also released a few records with her project Kat Channel with Snuffo of Snuff Crew and in 2017 launched her Discos Atónicos label to materialise varied influences “to listen to or play today or in ten years‘ time”, from esoteric psychedelia to industrial electro.
Someone we’ve been following closely for a while now, Nosedrip is a DJ, selector and record store clerk whose knack for unearthing the obscure and little-known is second-to-none. In the space of just a few years, Nosedrip has made a huge name for himself and his label all the while sharing high quality music through Stroom.tv radio and the STROOM 〰 record label, spitting out killer archival releases from the likes of Alain Neffe, Jan Van den broeke, Vazz, NSRD, Keysha, Sonoko and more. As a DJ, his sets can take you on a mind bending trip through dark electronics or the perfect soundtrack to a wellness spa.
