Since fall 2015, L.E.N.G. has been bringing world-class talent from a wide range of dance music backgrounds through Washington, DC -- and building a diverse crew of resident DJs to properly compliment these bookings. We're extremely excited to celebrate these past 3 years with two artists who exemplify our appreciation for the rich legacy of dance music while exploring new sounds that erode the often rigid boundaries of genre.
Martyn has had a huge impact on us since days of dubstep and its evolution thereafter. His influences from Detroit and Chicago house and techno helped usher in a new era of bass music, combining them with elements of UK dubstep and drum & bass. He continues to explore the furthest pockets of dance music as a DJ with residencies at Berlin’s Panorama Bar and New York’s Good Room. His adventurous approach to DJing has also had a profound effect on his hybridized productions, which most recently culminated with his album “Voids” on Ostgut Ton.
Djrum, who also emerged from the rapidly changing world of UK bass music, is a producer/DJ with a unique style that combines ethereal ambience with rich bass and complex percussion. He effortlessly draws from future garage, techno, breakbeat, and jungle to create cinematic musical journeys in both his productions and his DJ sets. His new album, “Portrait With Firewood” on R&S, considered his most personal release to date, builds on his organic and emotionally complex sound by incorporating field recordings, piano, and improvised cello -- a shift from his signature sampling techniques from earlier releases.
We can’t wait to commemorate our 3 year milestone with these incredibly talented artists as they explore the outer limits of beauty and bass on the Grand Ancestor 2.0 Sound System!
