A new season means a host of new partnerships. This time, Vooruit is opening its new season of music with an evening of adventurous electronica in partnership with the Brussels-based collective Slagwerk.
To start things off with a bang, we’ll welcome UK electronica phenomenon Gazelle Twin for what will be her only show on Belgian soil this year. She’ll present her new record ‘Pastoral’, coming out on 21 September on Anti-Ghost Moon Ray. Gazelle Twin is the name under which performance artist, composer and producer Elizabeth Bernholz unleashes her dark, industrial avant-pop on the world. Her widely acclaimed LP ‘UNFLESH’ (2014) was an intensely personal concept album on gender identity and phobias, while ‘Kingdom Come’ (2016) was a straight-up dystopian nightmare.
Gazelle Twin’s latest release, ‘Pastoral’ is again a concept album, a deconstruction of the English identity and the murky relationship between the artist’s present and past.
With ‘Pastoral’, Bernholz has created a terrifying soundtrack to a fascistic and troubled future, making use of antiquated instruments such as the harpsichord and leaning into rave-like house. As with her previous, JG-Ballard-inspired AV show for ‘Kingdom Come’, Gazelle Twin’s latest live show promises to be another unique and eccentric performance.
