Benjamin Damage, Grobas, ICF, Vrika, Anxiety for Living, Southear
SALITRE Vigo celebrates one year of life and closes its most ambitious event to date, with two locations and more than 10 hours of electronic music. It is a pride for all our team to have this line-up in our project, a sociocultural movement founded by Southear and Anxiety for Living, which seeks to resuscitate the primitive instinct of latent clubbing in Vigo.
Benjamin Damage (R&S Records, 50 Weapons – UK)
Benjamin Damage's roots lie firmly within the UK's underground. Drawing from early rave to jungle to nineties house, Benjamin's non-purist approach to techno produces an energy and emotion rarely found in modern electronic music. Being the first artist signed to Modeselektor's 50 Weapons imprint, Damage initially made his mark with a series of pivotal releases on the label. 2018 sees his musical direction move to a new label home as he tightens the knot with Belgium's R&S Records, working through two EPs to date with an album in 2019. Benjamin is fresh off the back of a huge Sonar anniversary live performance; a forthcoming collaboration with Bicep; and will be a key part of the Red Bull Music Academy's forthcoming residency in Berlin. Now establishing himself as a true live act, and with the recent EP's lead track 'Malfunction' being highly critiqued by tastemakers such as RA and Groove, it feels like Benjamin's time is coming.
Vrika (Doppt Zykkler Netlabel, RVD – ES)
Vrika is the alias of Fernando Blanco. Its sound is a mixture of styles that ride between ambient/drone and techno/dub. Its elaboration in an analogical and live way, confers a characteristic, raw, dirty and organic aesthetic. An aesthetic that extends to its image and presentation. Currently his work is published under the label Doppt Zykkler Netlabel. Also part of RVD, a live ambient/drone/dub project, along with Discknocked and Randoom, two old acquaintances of the Dub Techno scene. We can find different works with other artists of the panorama such as Víctor Aguado (Rerrr) and several incursions in live performances such as Matadero Madrid, C.O.A.M. Madrid, Stardust Madrid, etc.
Grobas (Fanzine Records, RetroFuture – ES)
Grobas is linked to the scene since 1996, dj resident of House Café and Telefunken in its beginnings. In 2004 he founded Thrasher Home Recordings, a platform that serves to iron his works, as well as works by national and international artists. In 2005, together with Producciones Playa Club, he created the 981 Sessions and then the 981 Festival in which he was responsible for the programming of electronic music. He was the first Galician DJ to perform at Sónar (1998), reaching to plays three more times. He has performed in the UK, Portugal, USA, Germany, Russia and throughout the Spanish geography. He is currently behind the RetroFuture project that provides one of the most avant-garde proposals in A Coruña. His sets are characterized by their versatility and eclecticism, coming to create a great connection with the track.
ICF (Holydubs, VOID – ES)
Over the years, ICF has earned a solid reputation for technical expertise. Able to mix almost anything that passes through their hands, in their risky selections makes converge techno, electro, house, acid, IDM or broken rhythms. An example of its style is the Holydubs platform, which forms together with 1st Degree and has been active since 2009. With a clear spirit "forward thinking" for their events have passed artists such as Neil Landstrumm, Conforce, Lee Gamble, Andrea, Stenny, among others. Coming from Vigo and with a long career, he has participated in festivals such as RA 24/7 Bogotá (Colombia), Soundwave (Croatia) or Re:sound (London). He has been linked to the renowned Video Club of the Colombian capital and directed the Holydubs Radio Show on Overcast Radio. ICF is also half of VOID, together with Posse. Project focused on the dark side of electronics, metal, ambient and industrial music.
