Our fourth PANIC of 2019 brings us a true hero of the Techno scene, Mr.C aka Richard West. His influence on the Acid House explosion in the eighties was magnetic and as the front man for the Shamen he was able to reach a global audience that in turn catapulted him into his greatest creation, 'The End' nightclub based in London. One of the true creators of Tech-House, his Killer Loop track, 'The Blue Hour' laid out the blueprint for the genre. We cannot wait to hear him and we quote... 'Smash the Granny' out of our pulsating Turbo Rig.
Mojave's debut was delayed until now! Her reputation in Los Angeles is well-deserved. She brings a subtlety to her Techno that other DJs can't help but admire.
Amy White is a consummate musician who has just completed her first solo album. As one half of Linus and Amy and a member of The Controversy, Amy always brings an ethereal nature to her work. She'll be performing a live set on our outdoor sound system and we cannot wait.

Mr.C has since organised, promoted & been resident DJ at: Fantasy ('88), Base (Dungeons '89), Release (91), Harmony (92), Drop (93), Cyclone (94), Vapourspace (94 & 95), Flavour (The End 95 & 96), Subterrain (The End 95 - 2002), Superfreq (Worldwide 2002 - Present), Super Disco Freq (LA 2010 - present). Mr.C was also resident DJ every weekend (Friday & Saturday nights) at the legendary RIP parties at Clink Street in London throughout 1988. It was here that Rave Culture as we know it was truly born, inspiring all London raves that were to follow in 88, 89 & 90.
In December 1995, Mr.C opened the legendary nightclub, 'The End' in London with Partner, Layo Paskin of Layo & Bushwacka! fame and then 'AKA' bar 3 years later, which celebrated its 13th anniversary in December 2008 and was lauded as one of the best night clubs in the world, which completely changed the face of clubbing in London & beyond. Sadly, 'The End' & 'AKA' closed their doors for good on January 24th 2009.
Mr.C is best known as front man, songwriter & producer of the pop group The Shamen with whom he notched up a string of top 10 hits including Move Any Mountain, Love Sex Intelligence, Boss Drum, Phorever People & the UK number 1 smash hit Ebeneezer Goode. These hits were hits the world over. The Shamen album Boss Drum went double platinum in the UK & they also won a highly coveted Ivor Novelo for Songwriters of the year UK in 1993. Richard's currently recording solo as Mr.C & is also doing collaborations as the Indigo Kidz with Affie Yusuf & with Noel Jackson as East LA Tek & has recent releases on Poker Flat, Get Physical Records & Adjunct Audio as well as his own Superfreq imprint.
Mr.C runs & promotes Superfreq events, which celebrates being 15 years old in March 2017 & ran monthly at Mr.C's club, 'The End' until it closed down in January 2009. Superfreq now functions bi-monthly in London including a bi-annual residency at the legendary nightclub Fabric & spends the rest of the time hopping around London’s popup warehouse venues & various clubs including London’s newest hottest venue The Steelyard after an extremely successful event with Richie Hawtin on December 2015. Superfreq does regular events in Los Angeles as well as bi-monthly events in Calais France & annual events in Brooklyn, Chicago, Detroit, San Francisco, Miami, Dallas, Denver & Washington DC in the United States & also Vancouver, Playa Del Carmen, Mexico DF, Moscow, Ibiza, Bogota, Montañita & other one off / annual events the world over & has recently competed an Asia tour hitting Manila, Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Beijing & Shenzhen.
Linus' DJ career started in Muncie, Indidana. He played at raves all over the Mid-West from 1992 - 1994. In 1995 he moved back to London and started a record label, had a residency at the Paradise with Howie B., opened a record shop called, Vinyl Addiction and was a regular DJ for the infamous sound collective, Sancho Panza.
In 1998 Linus created his Slynus alter ego and his tunes of looped up, hypnotic techno went on to be played by many of the top techno dj's at that time, including Jeff Mills, Richie Hawtin, Lee Burridge, Danny Tenaglia and Laurent Garnier. Carl Cox made Linus' first release, 'The Shifter' his tune of the month and played it to over 200,000 people at the Love Parade in Berlin.
Linus went on to remix George Michael, Love Tattoo, Spandau Ballet, Axe Corner, Trigger and many more. His Slynus remixes and singles have sold over in excess of 50,000 vinyl records. In 1999, Mixmag named Linus as 'One to Watch'. The first release in the Slynus series was played for five consecutive weeks on Pete Tong’s legendary BBC Radio One show, the Essential Mix.
Nice things people have said about his Slynus records.
‘It’s a hot jam’
- Jeff Mills- (Slynus - The Shifter)
‘Picture your most twisted dancefloor moment. Your brain is engulfed in bassline filth. Your mates fear for you, then a vocal peeps in, turns gurns into smiles and sends the dancefloor into raptures.’
- Mixmag - (Slynus - Son of a Monk)
‘I was playing one of your tracks the other day and it was really cool and really weird’.
- Richie Hawtin - (Slynus III)
‘I played it in Argentina and the place went nuts’
- Lee Burridge - (Slynus II)
‘I made it my tune of the month’
- Carl Cox - (Slynus - The Shifter)
Linus is now based in Los Angeles and made an album with Amy White called 'The Black Below' and 'The Black Below - Remixed' featuring remixes by Howie B, Terry Francis, Alexi Delano, Mononoid, Jem Stone, Joseph S Joyce, Pete Bones, Tunnel, Alison Marks, Russ Gabriel, and Mike Bryant aka A New Low. It was released by the very nice people at Default Position.
