KING KAMI'S ÁNGELES Y DEMONIOS
KAMIXLO, a founding member of Bala Club, has been consistently delivering a combination of rave euphoria and industrial machinations to rapidly out-of-control parties in the capital since 2015.
Operating from his Brixton base, he’s assembled an international crew of angels & demons, including Stockholm’s bastard son and Yung Lean affiliate, WOESUM, and two very, very special guests from Berlin & beyond. Sonics like Poetry in Motion.
THE SPECTACULAR EMPIRE
GAIKA’s brainchild, The Spectacular Empire is an infrastructure for forward-thinking black expression. Forged in a fire of political alienation, thudding dancehall, URL anxiety and trunk rattling rap, The Spectacular Empire wants to sear a stark sonic vision of London (and the UK) into our collective consciousness.
Channeling his own Grenadian and Jamaican heritage for this Soundclash, GAIKA’s performance will be a showstopper. He’s promised that he’s coming for the crown, so let’s see the troops he’s assembled for the occasion.
EASTERN MARGINS is the collective creating a space in London for music from East & South East Asia(ns). For this, we’ve traversed Shibuya’s skyscrapers, Peckham’s backrooms & West Tokyo’s malls to form up like Gundam.
We’ll be giving an EUROPEAN DEBUT to TOHJI, the Japanese upstart who’s singlehandedly moving the epicentre of Tokyo’s rap scene to West Tokyo’s suburban malls. Flanking him will be SINTA, ½ of Tokyo’s infamous Double Clapperz: the central artery of Japan’s grime scene.
Representing for the diaspora will be Peckham’s Yellow Secret Technology, NAMMY WAMS. Armed to the teeth with Drill dubplates and a decade-deep crate of his own Grime productions, he’s been quietly crafting a few choice cuts just for this Soundclash. He’ll be joined by ILL JAPONIA, whose visceral performance at Eastern Margins’ ‘Yellow Peril' event will be seared into our collective memories forever, so getting ¼ of Bo Ningen back on stage was a no-brainer for this line-up. Eastern Margins’ very own diasporic queens BIG WANG & SPICY TOFU will be taking mic control.
Born in Watford, but raised in the future, TOBAGO TRACKS’ signature sound spans mutant offshoots of UK Funky, Grime, Pop, Ambient and everything in between. Started in 2013 with the humble aim of injecting a shot of adrenaline straight into Watford’s backrooms, Tobago Tracks has since grown into a go-to label for the next-to-blow sounds of the intersection of the URL & IRL.
Handpicked to represent for Tobago Tracks is ICEBOY VIOLET, whose show has seen them take center stage worldwide from Somerset House to Macau, Milan. ICEBOY VIOLET's sound blends together distorted loops, harrowing vocals to create atmospheres as rapturous as they are captivating.
Lurking in the shadows will be 2 deadly MC & DJ duos. In the left corner is INTENTIONALLY COLD & M.I.C., the club assassins who have crystallised the hardcore continuum into its final form. Whilst in the right corner is BACKLIT & DON SININI, the dancehall troubadours transporting you hyper speed into their own warped Carnival dimension.
