Swan Meat, Antwood, x/o, Matt Tecson, Which Nancy
EARLY SHOW -- ENDS AT MIDNIGHT, DO NOT BE LATE, SHOW UP at 8 SHARP
Swan Meat is a producer and DJ from Washington, D.C. currently living in Cologne Germany. She burst onto the scene with her debut EP, Bounty, released on Paris’ experimental PERMALNK label at the beginning of 2017, and has since been highly prolific, releasing a series of terrifying, high-energy, cinematic singles and remixes for a variety of labels. In the past 18 months alone she’s released a collaborative EP/tape with the producer Yoshitaka Hikawa (Knife Splits Ice, Apothecary Compositions), a self-released mini-EP called Lathe of Heaven, and her critically acclaimed second official solo EP, TAME, solidifying a signature sound equal parts menacing & uplifting: inscrutable vocaloid lyrics mingle with blockbuster MIDI string and horn arrangements; roiling, rolling layers of taiko drums and toms weave in and out of 808 hits and breakbeats; organic sound design meets headfirst an earnest love for the 16-bit sound of old SNES games. Her most recent single, 'THROAT,' brings this aesthetic to a boiling point: it is a shot of energy flush with chiptune whorls, heavy trap percussion, of course, floaty string arrangements. She is one-half of the co-production duo House of Suns with DJ Heroin, and her third solo record is due this Fall.
Tristan Douglas, a.k.a Antwood, lives and releases records from his home in Victoria, BC. His debut full-length titled Virtuous.scr, released on µ-Ziq's Planet Mu label in 2016, was informed by ethical concerns surrounding the emergence of artificial intelligence. This was followed in 2017 by Sponsored Content, an ASMR-inspired concept album incorporating subliminal advertising. In 2019, Antwood has released two works - Alousia and Delphi. The former explores trance and dance music clichés and pushes them to extremes, while the latter – conceptualized with multidisciplinary artist Olivia Dreisinger – is an album structured like a young adult fiction, where a titular character embarks on an allegorical journey full of detail and emotion.
