Ball & Chain, Rumbacasa Live and HAPE presents RUMBASEL, an extra special closing party for Miami's biggest and craziest week of arts, music and culture. featuring DJ Jigüe (Isnay ElJigüe Rodriguez) and Arthur Baker!
It all goes down on Sunday, December 8th from 1pm - 7pm.
Our special guest Dj Jigüe, is the brainchild behind Guampara Productions. With a mission to give exposure to Cuban urban music that consciously stays connected to its deep Cuban musical roots, Guámpara Music in one of a kind. There are currently five artists under the label representing urban music genres like reggae, dancehall and hip hop. DJ Jigüe is the solo DJ on the Guámpara roster, and he’s made his mark on the music world by making experimental electronic music that weaves afro-cuban traditional rhythms with pounding and mysterious electronic beats. He calls his style ‘afrofuturismo tropical’, and his signature cowboy hat make him known as somewhat of an Afrofuturistic Space Guajiro.
Boston-born Arthur Baker launched his music career as a Disco DJ, but soon made his way into music-making, producing classic Disco for legends Northend and TJM. Arthur is one of the most visible and widely imitated early Hip-Hop/House producers; masterminding breakthrough experimentation with tape edits, sampling and synthetic beats on such records as Afrika Bambaataa's 'Planet Rock', New Order's 'Confusion', Rocker's Revenge 'Walking On Sunshine', Freeez's
‘IOU’, and his own break Dance classic ‘Breaker's Revenge'.
Baker would go on to become an award-wining DJ, music and film producer, working for and with the likes Bob Dylan, Daryl Hall & John Oates, Al Green, Bruce Springsteen, The Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, Diana Ross, Hurts and many more; and on film music for 80s/90s classics such as Beat Street, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, and Life Less Ordinary. Turning his hand to film production itself, Arthur has worked on Finding The Funk and 808 the Movie, and 2020 will see the debut of his Rockers Revenge music documentary.
Dale Dale will set the stage with a hybrid DJ / percussion set of Afro-Cuban funk, House and Global Bass music but will also be supporting Dj Jigüe's and Arthur Baker's sets with Congas, Bata, Bongos and an assortment of acoustic and electronic drums.
We'll also be featuring the incredibly talented (Meinl-sponsored) Cuban percussionist Otto Santana Selis(whose credits include Orkestra Akokan, Gente De Zona, Rodrigo y Gabriela) as well as the amazing y la super talentosa conguera Jennie Delgado from Miami world soul music band Uma Galera.
We'll also have some delicious Afro-futuristic Rum cocktails, classic Cuban culinary staples, and visionary multimedia art installations to sustain your mind, body and spirit for the whole day.
It's going to be a Rumbazo!
Or, to be more precise, a #RUMBASEL.
