After a riotous NYD celebration, Slam have put together a lineup dripping with attitude for the Maximum Pressure: Spring Edition, returning to the SWG3 complex in Glasgow at the end of March and coinciding with the date for this year’s Soma Skool daytime educational event.
Headliner Jeff Mills needs little introduction. A true pioneer, he’s undoubtedly helped to shape the entire genre with his inimitable style of laying down and producing eye-watering, industrial techno in all its myriad moods and forms. Following an acclaimed conceptual, album Moon (The Area of Influence), he is about to drop the first Millsart album since 2003 'Every Dog Has Its Day Vol. 5' on his experimental Axis label. Widely recognised as one of the best DJs on the planet, he’ll command the Galvanizers for a 2 hour climactic finalé including a live 909 workout.
Meanwhile Maximum Pressure’s resident’s Slam have been riding high on the back of their recent ‘Archive Edits’ compilation album and the ensuing 12 inch vinyls. A tour de force in on the global circuit, the Glaswegian duo’s unique six-deck back-to-back DJ performances have to be seen to be believed.
Russian DJ and Berlin resident, Dr. Rubinstein returns to Maximum Pressure for the first time in over 2 years. With an unrivalled gift for reading the room and playing primarily vinyl, she weaves together an invigorating assortment of hypnotic acid, ’90s rave and pumping techno, her selections are guided entirely by the dancefloor.
Acid queen Miss Djax, specialising in the darker side of the genre and founder of the seminal Dutch label Djax-Up-Beats will also be joining the Glasgow club night for the first time with her inimitable, razor-sharp sounds.
Another strong debut comes in the form of a dominant force on the Brooklyn underground scene, Volvox, also known for tough, stripped-back techno and groovy, acid-flavored sets.
Local support comes from new to the scene Kai, Boiler Room favourite IDA, who’s Acid Flash party has recently begun a new residency at the city’s hallowed Sub Club, and rising Soma star Aisha whose sets are etched with deep electro grooves, acid and heavy techno.
