LWE presents Sphere - 003
Saturday 29th February 2020
14:00 - 22:00 (Last Entry 17:00)
For the third outing in the Sphere series at Magazine London, LWE bring you an exploration and a celebration of techno. Born out of a need for change and the search for a new beginning, the essence of techno resonates deeply in the core values of LWE and it is this excitement, futurism and boundary pushing attitude that is put forward with Sphere.
Focusing on the sound, clarity and production, the massive space will be fitted with the award winning L'Acoustics Soundsystem and treated acoustically to providing the perfect canvas for the deep penetrating rumbling kicks, percussive mayhem and heavy stabs of techno.
Taking the reins of this sonic spaceship is the king himself, Richie Hawtin. A pioneer of the techno scene, Richie Hawtin’s signature stripped back, minimal productions could be heard causing havoc across dancefloors for a number of years now. The forward thinking, Plus8, MINUS and PLAYdifferently mastermind has remained at the forefront of the electronic music scene with his constantly evolving hybrid DJ sets and unfound enthusiasm for discovering new music.
Joining him is the newly crowned queen, Charlotte De Witte. Having barraged the public with a constant stream of intense, uncompromising, gripping techno releasing for the likes of Sleaze, Suara and Novamute Records, 2019 has seen her establish her own imprint, KNTXT. Enlisting Chris Liebing for the hugely popular, acid laced, collaborative debut EP titled Liquid Slow, she’s gone on to release two of her own EPs on the same day in November to close out the year with a massive statement.
Completing the lineup are two of technos rising stars. Brazilian export Anna has been making tidal waves across the scene with her seductive, hard hitting brand of techno with releases for the likes of Drumcode, Afterlife and Kompakt while Passeport Records founder, Anyvva’s signature no frills hypnotic approach has received support from the likes of Luke Slater, Pan-Pot, Amelie Lens and Matrixxman.
Tickets available from £25.
