SHADED has a signature sound – a weaving combination of driving, psychedelic vibes and funk inspired textures. His sound is undeniable in character and is breathing new life into the techno house world. Growing up in Newport Beach, California, he secluded himself in skating, surfing and music since a young age. His production style and technique followed suit, and has constantly evolved whilst trying to stay true to his roots.
He started out as the duo SHDWPLAY in 2009 and went on to release four EPs on Dubfire's SCI+TEC imprint. With newfound recognition in the form of the hit track ‘Time Drip’, coupled with the desire for creative individuality, he made the decision to leave the duo in 2012 and pursue his solo career as SHADED.
Since, he has had multiple EP’s on SCI+TEC, with “Be My Binge”, “Love Bug” and “This Is This” solidifying his solo adventure. He then followed up with his major noted release ‘‘Dwell’’ of 2014 which toped at No.1 on Beatports minimal chart, as well as “Electric Auto Pitch” which catapulted into the charts at No.7 and No.9 minimal. 2016 opened strong featuring his latest full EP on SCI+TEC titled “Yoyoyo”, which lead to his first Asia tour with the ULTRA Resistance team.
Tiga soon voiced his love for his productions, which lead to his debut release on Turbo in 2014 with “She She” – still ranked as one of the labels highest selling records. Since its success he returned in 2015 with “Ripped Kick” which was named Mixmag’s “Tune Of The Month” and 2 more EP’s “Creepy Fingers” and “Time Wasting,” which was the debut collaboration EP with Harvard Bass. SHADED’s affiliation opened his sound to a new audience of listeners and furthered his reach and versatility as a producer.
His remix schedule has been stacked, with a standout remix for Boys Noize and Tiga’s hit track “100”, as well as remixes for Carlo Lio on Kaluki Musik, Sian on Octopus, Oliver Huntemann & Dubfire on Senso Sounds, and more recently for Christian Smith on Tronic, where his remix of “Destination Unknown” reached No.2 on Beatports Minimal charts.
2017 kicked off with some top notch gigs in Germany at Ritter Butzke, a BE-AT.TV live stream at secret location in Berlin, and a Mixmag LAB in LA. October saw his contribution to the SCI+TEC 10-year compilation release with “Crayzy”, and in November we will hear his new EP to debut on Matador’s Rukus imprint, followed by a remix for Anabel Englund on her new label, Gari Safari.
2018 is shaping up to be SHADED’s most defining year to date. Between a stacked release schedule starting with an EP on Turbo with Harvard Bass, and a newly produced live show, SHADED is continuously reinventing himself, pushing the boundaries of his production prowess with his eclectic style, and delivering a live performance unlike any other.
