After sixteen varied and memorable little and larger parties we're back with a summer bash.
This time we've found a belter of a venue in the Pop Up Pirates bar in Clerkenwell. Just down the road from Fabric and Smithfields meat market this bar space has been thoroughly taken over by art direction and illustration farm The Pirates.
Art directed by good Coloured Sound friend Jimi Crayon and crew The Pop Up Pirates bar features a full scale takeover by the whole team. With Session Noises programming the sound nightly.
The idea is all about TYPE, be it modern and bright or traditional and sophisticated. Almost everywhere you look is covered in words and letters of all shapes, sizes and colours including 3D installed pieces based on print press machinery.
As if this visual feast wasn't enough we're hanging for a limited period a series of photographer Kalev Erickson's work. This series features a handful of Kalev's Hip-Hop based shots including prints of genre legends such as Kool Herc (the inventor of Hip-Hop), J-Live, Cash Money and Black Twang.
Bringing the sound we welcome back jozif and we welcome Alex Arnout.
jozif (Wolf + Lamb, Vitalik Recordings, Leftroom) needs little introduction to those who like todays house music. His diverse and distinct productions and edits have been featuring at the best parties around across continents including regularly featuring at Fabric, recently returning from Sonar and playing multiple BIG rooms in Ibiza this summer.
Alex (Dogmatik) has been grafting amongst the underground for many years DJing and running his Dogmatik imprint. A labels label Dogmatik focuses on quality electronic music ranging from the deep on through to the experimental. Featuring Alex's own productions (which we love!) and new artist of note Maya Jane Coles this is a label to check out for sure.
Residents Henry Rumour, Tony London and Darren Mathurin fill in the gaps.
Look forward for purging your senses with image and sound. : )
