I LOVE ACID comes to Malta!
This September C.S.S. are proud to host I Love Acid in Malta for the very first time. A full showcase of artists from London's legendary monthly Acid House retrospective clubnight...
I LOVE ACID is a clubnight celebrating the sound of the ACID - every month for over 4 years, showcasing Acid House and all the genre's invaded by the immense sound of the Roland TB-303 - rave, techno, electro and more... as well as their monthly night, they also have hosted the dome stage at BLOC WEEKEND, and have had guests such as Luke Vibert, Ceephax, DJ 3000, Global Goon, A Guy Called Gerald, Radioactive Man, Mike Paradinas, Cylob, EgeBamYasi, and many many more...!
MARK ARCHER [ex Altern 8 / Nexus 21]
As far as rave legends go, you won’t find many higher up the list than Mark Archer. Founding member of Bizarre Inc, one half of Nexus 21 and Altern8, and also recorded solo under a plethora of monikers such as DJ Nex, Trackman, Mark II, and Slo Moshun… Mark is quite simply one of the most important and influential dance music producers of the last two decades.
Still writing and DJing out across the globe, everything from jacking acid, classic techno, funk, hardcore, hip-hop, and of course his most notorious speciality genre: Old Skool Rave – Mark Archer is a resident at London’s I Love Acid, and also a regular guest at top music events such as Bangface, BLOC Weekend, Sonar Festival, Fantazia, and many more…
POSTHUMAN [Balkan Vinyl / Seed Records]
Posthuman are cousins Rich Bevan & Josh Doherty. Known for their genre-shifting output that spans techno, electronica, breaks, acid, and electro (with the occasional detour to post-rock and ambience) always with a signature sound of deep brooding science-fiction menace. Founders of Seed Records back in 2001, and hosts of the legendary tube station parties (held in an abandoned underground train station in London), that saw them play alongside the likes of Aphex Twin, Goldfrapp, Plaid, Luke Vibert, and many more.
Over the last few years Posthuman have established themselves across the UK and Europe as serious heavy-hitters on the dancefloor, and released an ever harder series of vinyl records and labels such as Uncharted Audio, Handsette, B12, and Balkan Vinyl, focussed on jacking rave-fused techno and electroid darkness: check the videos below to hear for yourelf!
AGT RAVE CRU [I Love Acid]
Running at a hundred-tracks-an-hour, the AGT Rave Cru are mashup merchants with a fetish for old skool hardcore, rave classics, and acid house. Residents and curators of London’s famous acid house retrospective clubnight I Love Acid (which has run every month for over four years now) and ever-presents at the UK’s top electronic music festival BLOC Weekend: they have played every year so far – their debut set in 2008 was highlighted by DJ Magazine as ‘Beyond Insane’ and rated one of the top 3 acts of the entire festival, and in 2011 they were even given a stage of their own to host over two nights.
It’s hard to describe in writing what to expect from AGT – you need to see and hear them for yourself – classic tracks dropped one after another (and often over the top of each other) without ever missing a beat, like some crazed lovechild of 2ManyDJs and Jive Bunny, jacked up on pills, wearing Orbital glasses and Altern8 masks…Check the videos, listen to the mixes – it’ll make more sense that way. Top one, nice one, get sorted!
DEBASSER [Wide / Novamute]
Debasser launched onto the music scene back 2002 with the release of the critically acclaimed track ”Fat Girls" on NovaMute. Having been previously discovered by the late Disco D's for his detroit ghetto-tech label, GTI Records, it was Richie Hawtin, who discovered this electro gem and brought it to the attention of the UK based label, where it was re-released with international success.
Hitting the record boxes of a number of major heavy weights around the DJ world, such as the likes of Dave Clarke, Lauren Garnier and Andrew Weatherall, Debasser began putting together his now legendary live shows, part of which was to become the bass drenched floor filler that is “Dark Smile”. It was Debasser’s “genre busting” styles and techniques in both his the live shows and releases that were a key role in creating the UK Bass scene, and his resulting sets in some of the greatest clubs in the UK and Europe.
PLACID [I Love Acid]
Known by many as “the DJ’s DJ”, Placid is one of the world’s most highly respected and experienced DJ’s in the acid house scene; with an encyclopaedic knowledge of all things 303, and a record collection to match.
Strictly a vinyl purist, his crate-digging DJ sets encompass rarities and forgotten classics from Acid House, Detroit Techno, Deep House and Electro. Placid has graced the decks everywhere from Berlin to Detroit, and currently holds a monthly residency a London’s I Love Acid clubnight, and a regular radio show on Future Music Radio. He also runs the acid-house.net site dedicated to the sounds of Chicago from 1986-89.
MISSAW [The Centrifuge]
Missaw is The Centrifuge’s founder, label curator and resident DJ. His repertoire spans the cutting-edge musical spectrum, from ambience and drone to electro, acid and drill & bass. He is equally at home in concert hall and club conditions, mining his well-travelled collection of classics, obscurities, forthcoming label material and exclusive music from the artists and labels The Centrifuge is affiliated with.
