Robert Dietz, Jose Velez, Kika
Growing up drinking the stuff of Sven Vath, Robert Johnson and Dorian Pac, Robert Dietz divided his youth spent amongst all things spinning: Frankfurt’s skate parks and equally chaotic nightclubs. The idea to move his passion for turning to wheels to turning records was a boardslide; in 2009, his aesthetic qualities earned him a spot with Luciano’s label, Cadenza, home to concrete names such as Guy Gerber, Loco Dice, Reboot and Ricardo Villalobos.
Taking the current minimalism trend with a single grain of hops, Dietz’s sound mixes the rich brews of classic house with the hypnotizing, suppleness of the 21st century. This keen, anthemic approach has yearned him a spot beside Luciano as a respected member of Luciano & the Vagabundos, a hand-selected, merry team of Cadenza-label men who frolic Pacha Ibiza’s tables every Sunday this summer.
October 13th will be Dietz’s first solo debut at Cielo, New York City’s mecca of house and techno. Featuring luminaries Louie Vega and Francois K on a weekly basis, Cielo’s decks have been graced by famous artists from around the globe. March with us as Robert Dietz embarks on this maiden musical voyage in the city’s most intimate venue, the legendary Cielo.
