Nice location, great food, good beer and nice beer garden. Extremely busy in the summer months due to overlooking Victoria Park.

A day of cross-cultural performances, sharing and training to celebrate the Italian mask-theatre tradition and the birth of ISCAD, international Society of Communication and Drama.
On February 25th, 1545, a troupe of comic actors signed legal documents to become the first incorporated theatre company; symbolically, Commedia dell’Arte was born, and it began to spread through public squares, royal courts and theatres all over Europe.
The Commedia dell'Arte Day, initiated by SAT and supported by the Italian Commission of UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization) has been conceived to promote the knowledge of this global theatrical language, which was born in Italy in the sixteenth century and is still performed today throughout the world.
Using hand-crafted leather masks, physicality and improvisation, participants will collaborate in creating, staging and performing comical scenarios and impersonating the main characters of Commedia dell’Arte: Zanni, Pantalone, Dottore, and the Lovers.
In 2012, the third annual Commedia dell’Arte Day coincides also with the official birthday of ISCAD, International Society of Communication and Drama. ISCAD is a not-for-profit Dramatic Society and child of ISLaD, Interactive School of Language and Drama. Born by an anarchic urge to bust up the mother school’s boundaries, ISCAD promotes intercultural communication across nations, cultures and social groups.
