Whether it’s through his productions, radio shows, compilations, parties or club sets, D'Julz has been at the forefront of electronic music since his career first began back in 1992. He has played for the finest dancefloors at parties around the world and garnered residencies at renowned venues such as Paris’ Rex.
His spinning career has been augmented by an equally impressive production resume, which includes releases on Ovum, Pokerflat, 20:20 Vision, Dessous, Get Physical and many more. His ‘Just So You Know’, ‘Fleurette’, and many remixes became instant classics upon their release. At the crossing of house and techno, D’Julz’ ability to transcend genres and trends created his own niche in techno/house music with a mix of meaty basslines and an array of analogue machines garnering a classic yet modern sound.
Drawing audible references to Detroit as well as UK rave, chunky beats, 909s, moody chords – the elements may be familiar, but the music is anything but generic. In 2009 D’Julz launched his label, 'Bass Culture Records' which rapidly established itself as a reliable purveyor of deep, versatile house music of a classic stripe. The label emphasizes its catalog over its roster – it’s a collection of great tunes, not a social registry of any given scene.
D’Julz’ music taste always shines in his DJ sets, specializing in an erudite techy-deepness laced with tracks that follow a common thread, whether they be house or techno. If you appreciate a more refined, serious, and genre-crossing style of dance music, don’t miss it tonight at Lantern.
