During his teenage years, Barem was fascinated by the way some DJs could impose their own personal vision onto the music they played, elevating it to an art form. It was exactly the inspiration he needed and Barem was soon experimenting with sampled loops and buying records (7th City, Spectral, Perlon and of course MINUS).
In 2005/2006 he released 2 EPs on the labels Unfoundsound and Foundsound. Meanwhile, his relationship with MINUS was already taking root.
RICHIE HAWTIN encouraged him to submit some demos after hooking up in Buenos Aires, one of which – OPAL, appeared on the MIN2MAX LP which kick-started a period of non-stop touring across the US and Europe as demand for his live performances grew.
Two MINUS releases then followed in quick succession. 2007 saw the release of his "Never Better Than Late" EP before 2008’s superb "Kolimar" EP signaled a distinctive evolution of his sound, adding organic, house inflected grooves to his repertoire. Listening to both EPs, it’s clear Barem concentrates most energy into creating the powerful bass lines that underpin his work. His expansive use of reverb and delay create space for subtle percussive elements to skip and snake while distant, sometimes eerie melodies occur on random, secondary levels as a result of these interacting elements.
His debut full-length artist ALBUM, conceived and recorded during a prolific period of creativity in his home studio in Buenos Aires in late 2010/early-2011, "AFTER THE STORM" finds Barem in a place where he felt he could finally express himself over the course of an album.
Having established himself as an exciting addition to the MINUS collective, Barem joined the top ranks of the label’s artists! The storm around this young producer is only just beginning!
Dilo a.k.a. Elephant Pixel a.k.a. Monotax a.k.a. Cascabel Gentz (w/ [a]pendics.shuffle)
Dilo is known for his eclectic and exquisite taste in audio. His productions that sound like crystalline experimental upbeat hip hop techno are, quite simply put, some of the most marvelous releases around, and as part of the smooth sounding ice cream pop band Monotax he's done an incredible job to get electronic music lovers into live band formats again.
Regularly surfacing on various labels - may it be on his own imprint, Igloo Records, on which Dilo manifests himself with reduced yet very tight and heavy productions that have you gripped as hard as a drunk sailor's fist before he pulls you into a dark corner and eats your eyeballs -, he's also published music on labels as varied as Telegraph, Einmaleins, Trapez, LessIzMore, Esperanza, Adjunct, Minus, We Are, Dumb Unit, Clink, Unfoundsound, Soma, Leftroom, Romanphoto, amongst others. And it does not stop there: now joining up with Los Angeles's oddball [a]pendics.shuffle, he creates yet another goofy identity for his output: Cascabel Gentz.
Dilo was remixed by artists such as Dandy Jack, (a)pendics.shuffle, Dapayk, Jay Haze, Ernesto Ferreyra, Bruno Pronsato, Franco Cinelli, From Karaoke to Stardom, Seuil, Barem, Ryan Crosson, Seph, Shadi Megallaa, Gurtz, Funzion, Tolga Fidan, Jorge Savoretti, Marco Resman, Ed Davenport and more. He remixed artists like Sutekh, Camea, DissOnance, (a)pendics.shuffle, Mark Henning, Kasper & Papol, QiK, Gurtz, Funzion, etc.
In 2009 releases his debut album "Waheira" (on his own label Igloo-Rec), including the beatport top 10 song "Waheira" and hitting the De-Bug Magazine chart at number 2. At the end of 2010 is out a massive release with remixes of his album featuring Mark Henning, Agaric, Kate Simko, Someone Else, From Karaoke To Stardom, Simon Beeston, Elon and many more.
