On June 2nd we will be joined by none other than Daze Maxim & Lerosa. We have wanted to book both of these artists for some time now and are absolutely delighted to have them both down on the same morning.
Anyone that has seen Daze or Lerosa play before will know that we are in for a vinyl treat and that both styles will suit the breakfast club perfectly.
Daze by name, Daze by nature! Well such is the way Daze Maxim’s DJ sets and music will leave you wondering what just hit you. For over a decade, he has held a reputation, especially amongst fellow DJs, as a guardian and pioneer of quality underground electronic music, thanks to his slick productions on the coolest labels and wholesome live performances in the world’s best clubs. From Harthouse to Cocoon Recordings and most notably through the Hello?Repeat imprint that he established and runs with Jan Krueger, Daze is recognised as a deep thinking musician concerned with composition theory and true musical meaning as much as rocking a dance floor. This approach has led to his records gracing the box of every DJ worth his salt across the minimal, techno and tech house scene; Villalobos, Hawtin, Arpiar, Steve Bug, Matthias Tanzmann. You get the idea. More than this though, Daze Maxim and his Heartz4 moniker, can look to the seal of approval stamp from the likes of Luciano, Richie Hawtin, Circo Loco, Sven Vath and Marco Carola, all of whom have included his own work on successful compilations of theirs. The early Hello?Repeat track ‘Intimacy Girl’ remains an anthem to the nightmare-like minimal weirdness that followed and, refusing to be categorized by one particular
sound, his One Million Shakers EP, especially Maxim Mudhole, was played by everyone in 2008 and became synonymous as the house sound of the Cocoon Terrace in Ibiza. Studio skills for Daze aren’t just limited to his own original work either. Take his production mastery on Patrick Specke’s smash ‘(G)oing (C)oncern (P)rinciple’ release on Desolat in 2009 or his remixing and production collaborations with Hardfloor over the best part of the last two decades. This prowess makes Daze one of the most consistently booked artists for true underground clubs worldwide. Who else can say they’ve held residency at both Berghain/Panoramabar and Watergate in Berlin, as well events at Rex Club in Paris, Bunker in New York, Arma 17 in Moscow and global tours that have covered North America, Japan and the best of the European underground circuit? Add in Daze’s saxophone skills and jazz influences and you have one of the scene’s most avant-garde and experimentalist thinkers, whose music has such depth you’ll find something new every time you listen to it.
Born in Rome, Leo developed a love of electronic music through Italian pop music of the 1980s, before discovering hip hop and acid house . He began djing in the early 90s and in 1995 moved to Dublin where he got heavily into darker, deeper electronica and electro by the likes of Autechre, Drexciya and the extended Detroit- inspired musical underworld.
Leo began producing his own music in 2000, concentrating initially on electro but broadening his range into unconventional house and techno styles. His debut release was the ‘Maike ep’ on Dublin’s D1 Recordings in 2005. He followed this up with a critically acclaimed release on Real soon, titled ‘Ruski’. Then followed the equally outstanding “Seeker ep“ on Enclave Recordings , closely followed by a release on The “A touch of class†imprint out of Germany , a brilliantly received ep on Uzuri . More recently he has released on the seminal “Millions Of Moments †imprint as well as the ace new label , Quintessentials.
Since then Lerosa has been on demand as a remixer and has garnered a lot of press coverage from magazines such as Germany’s Groove Mag & De Bug , London’s Strobelight Honey magazine as well as coverage on the increasingly influential music blogs, such as Infinitestatemachine , Test , e.t.c.Lerosa:
