thebrokendoor return after last December’s successful adaptation of Singin’ In The Rain.
For those unfamiliar with the premise, the band selects a film musical before choreographing and rehearsing an alternative soundtrack. Usually a drum’n’bass quartet, this is a now regular side project for thebrokendoor and is a uniquely entertaining experience combining music with cinema.
“thebrokendoor revolutionised the viewing experience of the film [Singin’ In The Rain], incidental music enhancing the hilarity of already funny scenes and the drum and bass updates of the film’s show tunes had me dancing in my seat. Before I knew it, the film was over and I was already thinking about other movies I’d like to see get thebrokendoor treatment.” Vee Uye, Branching-Dialgue.com
For this show they will be supported by composer and arts facilitator Jaydev Mistry, whose work in music includes the development of his own ‘Hyper Guitar’ instrument [http://vimeo.com/41237261]. He will produce an original piece of music to accompany his compilation of videos released in connection with UNKLE’s Never, Never, Land album.
Further support comes from Paul Green, whose music guides waves of glitchy bleeps and clicks through a sea of ambient moodiness. For this show he will score an edited version of Enter The Void.
