LAUNCH @ HOXTON DOCKS, E2
Venue Opening Party | Saturday 11th August, 8pm-6am
w/ Adeline | Matt Fear | Kreature | Ibellini & more
Hoxton Docks, formerly a warehouse used by the 'Gas Light and Coke Company'; commissioned by King George III to supply London with coal gas and operate the first gas works in the United Kingdom, is situated on the Regents Canal and landmarked by Bob Smith's infamous 'Ron's Eel and Shell Fish' mural.
For the past 20 years a thriving community of artists such as 1993 Turner Prize winner Rachel Whiteread, and more recently Keith Tyson, have made this space a stalwart of the East London art scene. Nestled amongst the arts is Kartikeya, a prototype 14 metre crusisng SRB exploration vessel, which greets you upon entrance.
August 11th sees the venue throw open it's doors for commercial events and space hire, including film and photography studios, Victorian loft gallery, courtyards and roof terraces. For the 'Launch' opening party we have invited a selection of house music's hottest rising stars in Adeline, Matt Fear, Kreature and Ibellini to soundtrack your evening. Feel free to invite your friends to experience this, the opening of one of East London's last remaining canal-side warehouses.
Hoxton Docks is kitted with Funktion1 sound throughout, fully stocked bars, a magical interior and immaculate production. Doors 8pm-6am | Entry £8/10
NB. Our opening show is limited to 300 people only, so please buy your tickets / request guestlist early to avoid disappointment on the night!
// ARTISTS //
| ADELINE |
Already scouted by the likes of Crosstown Rebels and Get Physical, Adeline is fast becoming one of the stars of the future on the international house music stage. Her music is laced with shimmering vocals and organic melodies whilst always remaining deep and hypnotic. With her first offering of the year dropping on Get Physical/Kindisch imprint in March, the Swedish producer, who also helped launch music website Soundcloud and presented Scandinavia’s biggest electronic music radio show, has recently relocated to London to focus her attentions on production. This turned out to be a wise move, with her tracks gaining support from house music’s key players such as Jamie Jones, M.A.N.D.Y, Anja Schnejder, Russ Yallop and David August. Labelled one to “keep an eye on” in 2012 by dance music institution Mixmag, Adeline is set to land herself in the collective consciousness of deep house connoisseurs and dance floor enthusiasts, and take the party scene by storm in the not so distance future.
| MATT FEAR |
Matt Fear is the latest Leeds born artist to make successful strides into the house music scene. His remix for Jamie Jones’ and Lee Foss’ Hot Waves label has been riding high in the Beatport house charts for months now, and 2012 has seen similar high profile releases unleashed left right and centre in addition to his debut artist album which drops on Louie Fresco’s MEXA Records later this year. With shows as far and wide as Oslo, Mexico, Cape Town, Moscow, Ibiza already under his belt, you can expect Matt to be rocking a club near you in the not so distant future.
| KREATURE |
Each of Kreature’s first 3 releases have waltzed their way into the Beatport nu-disco top 10 charts, and been spun by the likes of Solomun, Jamie Jones, David August, Kolombo, Ralph Lawson and more. His remix of 'Had Enough' climbed to number 2 in the charts, and typifies the nu-disco sound which has been so well received in 2012.
| IBELLINI |
25 year old Bassam Ibellini produces classy deep house and regularly appears at some of London's lauded underground parties including Half Baked and Zombie Soundsystem, in addition to a summer Ibiza residency.
