Clash Magazine, in association with Zeroten x Palace, presents:
It would be hard to overstate the impact of Shackleton, having been responsible for some of the most groundbreaking interpretations of the ever-evolving dubstep sound to date. From his bewitching 'I Am Animal/Mystikal Warrior' split 12” with Appleblim in 2004 to the 'Soundboy's Suicide Note' 12” in 2008, his immaculate Skull Disco label crafted one of the most striking and influential aesthetics in modern UK electronic music, and his latest label venture Woe To The Septic Heart! is shaping up to follow in its legendary footsteps.
His epic, bewildering soundscapes command an unfailingly menacing presence over the listener, weaving minimal techno through the darkest recesses of dubstep to sculpt a uniquely identifiable sound that has most recently resulted in what could well be Shackleton's magnum opus - his 'Music For The Quiet Hour/The Drawback Organ EPs', which has gained doting reviews from the likes of Resident Advisor, FACT Magazine and The Quietus for its fiercely original scope and vision.
This is a very rare chance to see Shackleton perform a live set in Scotland.
Kuedo (Live AV set)
From his early visionary work as one half of production duo Vex'd Jamie Teasdale has re-emerged in recent years as Kuedo. His debut LP 'Severant' was released on Planet Mu in 2011 to widespread critical acclaim for its thoroughly modern and atmospheric take on the science fiction cinematic aesthetic, and his most recent single 'Work, Live and Sleep In Collapsing Space' followed on from 'Severant' with a darker and more aggressive club-orientated sound; merging elements of footwork and trap with his synthesiser-led compositions to create an altogether different beast.
The Kuedo live set is now no ordinary live set, as a specially designed live AV show by Berlin-based audio and visual collective MFO will immerse Kuedo in a waterfall of light and texture, which is sure to hypnotise the audience and engulf them in the entire aural and visual experience.
This is Kuedo's first ever live show in Scotland, his first event appearance in Glasgow since 2009 and after gaining strong reviews at European festivals and the recent Planet Mu showcase in London, this is a live AV set not to be missed.
Glaswegian animator and graphic designer Konx-om-Pax is most widely known for his design work for labels such as Planet Mu, Hyperdub, Brainfeeder and Warp but he has most recently stepped away from the drawing board and into the studio, and July saw the release of his debut album 'Regional Surrealism' on Planet Mu. The LP has been lauded by the likes of Pitchfork, FACT Magazine and DummyMag for its mysterious and experimental vision, which pulls together Konx-om-Pax's love for the strange and the beautiful with fascinating results.
Further DJ support will be provided on the night by Mark Maxwell (Fortified Audio/This Is Our House).
