You don't want to miss the exclusive U.S. debut showcase of Israeli-Ethiopian singer Ester Rada. We have proudly been following her Soul-Funk-Ethio-Jazz-Groove-Rnb voice for a long time. Featured in every possible TV and radio show in Israel, the up-and-coming star has turned heads with Life Happens, her self-written and composed solo EP, produced by Kuti (Kutiman Thru-You) and Sabbo (Soulico). With influences from Nina Simone to Jill Scott and Erykah Badu, Rada is bringing a new voice to soul and we are very excited to show it to New York.
Ester Rada’s cross-cultural sound is a deep reflection of the Israeli born Ethiopian’s heritage. Growing up in a highly religious Jewish family- and in more than modest conditions in one of the roughest neighborhoods of Tel Aviv - gave Rada the drive to change her way of life and fulfill her dream of creating music.
"Ester Rada’s music hit me right in the face, leaving me stunned and smiling like a kid in toystore. Her cross-cultural sound is on one hand, a deep reflection of the Israeli born Ethiopian’s heritage, and on the other, influenced by the esthetics of both classical and new soul. You can trace back her pain, pride and joy in her music, while she’s following the giant steps made by Aretha Franklin and Nina Simone, and letting her soul out with rare confident voice and appeal. To see her performing live, is in lack of other words, magical. " - Eyal Rob, Telavivian.com
