Eric Duncan aka Dr Dunks is one half of legendary DJ duo Rub-n-Tug & also half of DFA’s Still Going. Dunks No matter the name though, the game remains unchanged: peak time party provider. Ever since coming up in his hometown of Los Angeles’ freestyle and hip-hop scene in the early 80s, Duncan has been a sound selector extraordinaire. With partner Thomas Bullock, he threw the notorious late 20th century Rub-n-Tug disco parties in downtown Manhattan, turning on a new generation of revellers to the sleazy pleasures of disco. He followed that up as the Saturday night resident at Passerby Bar, fuelling the party until Sunday morning. Be it slo-mo disco, incandescent funk, or banging house music, Duncan weaves it all together into a nightlife soundtrack. In the studio, Dunks has remixed everyone from LCD Soundsystem to Zero 7, the Beastie Boys to Coldplay, !!! to Roxy Music, Patrick Wolf to Grace Jones. Now it’s time for folks other than New York City’s 24 Hour Party People to get a dose of Dr. Dunks’s medicine. Forthcoming is the eagerly-anticipated Rub-N-Tug full-length album, as well as the first album from Still Going. . Noice! Described by the legend DJ Harvey as “the best dj on the planet right now
And.You Presents upstairs
For the October instalment of And.You we will party in style, combining The Horse & Groom's 6th Birthday with Halloween celebrations. As always, we welcome some fine UK based up and coming talent. DJ/Promoter/Producers Depart will be joining us alongside our Get Physical residents Stereo.type and Duncan Paterson.
Depart (Resonance Records, Digital Delight)
Glen Revell and Chris Ware, collectively known as Depart, are a British duo making waves on the electronic dance music scene. Having previously supported acts such as Eric Volta, Shaun Reeves, wAFF, Burnski, Alexis Raphael, Danny Daze, Miguel Campbell, Richy Ahmed, Puente & Rosch and WiLDKATS, the boys are now cementing a name for themselves through their fine-tuned house and techno sound. This includes their own promotion creation, Depart Showcase - a series of successful parties thrown in their hometown of London, which sees them bring the hottest in underground names, some of which are listed above, to impressed crowds of the UK’s capital.
As well as working hard as DJ’s and promoters, Depart have also turned their hand to production. 2012 saw a number of releases drop on established labels. This included hot British label Electronique, who featured the ‘Word’ on their Ibiza Summer Sampler, and Resonance Record who released 'Money' on Resonance Records Vol.2 Mexican label Cream Couture Records also snapped up another Depart bomb - this time a remix of the Jon Celius track, ‘Down’. The boys darkened the track and most certainly made it their own. The remix had great chart success reaching no.30 in the Indie/Nu Disco top 100.
Fast forward to 2013 and Depart have managed to secure an EP on Barcelona's Digital Delight which is due to be released in October. The EP features two originals and remixes from Sishi Rosch and Balcazar & Sordo.
Stereo.type (Get Physical Music)
Stereo.Type formed in autumn 2012 after George Mahoney and Bryan Reynolds met the year before and immersed themselves in London’s electronic scene. After feeling their mutual love of music and unique talents had something different to offer to the circuit they started working together creatively. Their DJ/Production duo was born from George’s musical expertise studying classical music and music production, and a lifetime of playing the guitar. Bryan’s love of genres, from hip hop to disco to electronica, compliments this through his clever and intricate track choices. The result is a unique blend of deep and melodic tech house packed with emotion and groove.
They can currently be found monthly at And.You in London. The pair has now been picked up by Get Physical Music with their debut release ‘Momento’ recently released. More material is currently in production.
Duncan Paterson (Dreamlust)
