Oval Space Music brings you an allnighter with Innervisions label co-founding duo, Âme.
Here at Oval Space we’ve always had a penchant for extended sets; being privvy to musical tastes that have inspired people the world over. The allnighter coaxes out sounds from the past and from the present, and perhaps, if we are lucky…even from the future. Who better to guide us on the long, building journey of discovering an entire record collection, than Innervisions artists Âme.
Acclaimed German duo Âme, have a discography that has wowed many since their debut in 2003, and are also two of the most revered DJ’s in the electronic music landscape today.
A partnership formed and cemented in 2001 in their hometown of Karlsruhe, Frank Wiedemann and Kristian Beyer debuted with ‘Rej’ and later their self-titled album ‘Âme’, both on Sonar Kollektiv. Catching the attention of Defected Records and none other than their soon-to-be-partners Dixon and Henrik Schwarz; it was not long before one of the strongest collectives we know was born, Innervisions.
Without attachments to particular methods and patterns, Âme have developed an overarching structure of what dance music can achieve and pursue it through varied moods, timbres and even genres. If we were to pick one stylistic point that shines through, it’s their dedication to orchestral instrumentation and composition, albeit deconstructed and meshed with vintage synth tones and spectral vocal samples. From the waltzing prototechno of ‘Fiori - a key movement in Ostgut Ton’s ballet score entitled ‘Shut Up and Dance!’, to the gargantuan brass tearing through the wildpitch strings of ‘Enoi’, Âme are forever pushing the boundaries of dance music.
Now with 2 albums and 17 EP’s under their belts, ‘One night With…’ Âme brings both Frank Wiedemann and Kristian Beyer to Oval Space for a full 8 hours of their finest live work and their impressive DJ talent.
