A Guy Called Gerald
Philip Stirzaker b2b Oli Faulkner
Over the past decade we’ve brought many originators, innovators, and straight up pioneers of electronic music to our dark little corner of Teesside.
All of those things describe the September *riffraff guest who is an absolute house and techno music icon. For 25 years he’s been travelling the globe pushing musical boundaries.
The Hacienda to Berghain/PanoramaBar Fabric (club) to WOMB (Official) he’s graced the booth of almost every clubbing mecca over his quarter-century career. From huge anthems like Voodoo Ray underground weapons like Moon Jelly, or his work as part of legendary 808 State, he’s a producer like no other.
We welcome him and his live-set-up to *riffraff to help us EasE our way into the coming autumn where the lEavEs drop from the trEEs and the dark slowly creeps in like a spider trying to warm its hairy beard by the burning fire and supping on a glass of fag ash milk.
To use his own words "I am just A Guy Called Gerald I don't fit...I am a part of the construct, the basic language of dance music, source code, the core base elements, THE DIE HOLD.”
Also joining our outrageous guest is those two weirdos who play live using all their usual gadgets that go by the name of Groove Syndicate from Groove Syndicate Recordings and twiddle their knobs in front of onlookers.
Another very special DJ that is close to many clubbing veterans of Teesside and inspired the likes of our very own Lee Pennington is the one and only Sugarshack @ The Middlesbrough Empire Reunion boyo himself Mr Oli James Faulkner coming out of retirement to squirt the Med Bar with a massive dollop of incredible records... Cant Effing wait for this set!!!
The ressys themselves Lee Pennington and Philip Stirzaker not to forget James Barnbrook aka Milhouse will be taking to the ones and twos to warm you buttocks with lashings of typical cuts fresh from the underground.
Upstairs the Derby Discotech crew will be keeping things bumping along.
If you need tickets then get in touch immediately because this will sell out like last time and you dont want to be left in the cold fingering a stray cat.
