The SLST killah DJ duo joined by the Legendary Push Live in concert.
The spirit of classic soul and funk is alive and kicking and it’s named Push - one of the mainstays of the Eighties Rare Groove and Acid Jazz scene. Alongside The Brand New Heavies, Young Disciples and Soul II Soul - Push have seriously made their Mark on the Annals of British Soul History. And they want more!
Push were at the heart of a community that thrived on JB inspired funk, Blaxsploitation soundtracks and raw soul-jazz. Formed back in 1987, Push toured Europe and Japan and were regulars onstage at Gilles Peterson’s legendary Talking Loud & Saying Something sessions at Dingwalls. They have worked with the likes of the Style Council’s Paul Weller and Mick Talbot and have long provided the soulful foundation for visiting US divas like Candi Staton and Marlena Shaw. The triumvirate of Crispin Taylor (drums), Ernie McKone (bass) and Mark Vandergucht (guitar) also doubled up as the rhythm section for the innovative Galliano – a conscious and wayward band that sold in excess of 800, 000 albums.
Fast forward to 2015 - And Push are a band on a mission - determined to enlarge their following amongst those that truly “Feel the Funk!”. Sooooooo get ready people, things about to get wild, brand new and heavy in the place. Time to PUSH!
Then on Level 2, Original Premier Rare Groove Soul N' Funk Tag Team AKA DJs Snowboy and Perry Louis embark on another blistering 7 hour marathon in search of the perfect groove. The absolute finest in funk on 45 found and well delivered. Grooves to make you go hot, damn and how! Positively Storming.
