Kenny Hanlon, Lerosa
We are back! After two great parties in very quick succesion (Tama Sumo and dip have both reached top 5 status in our end-of-half-year lists, 4 thumbs up!) we're excited to bring you two of our favourite local selectors back to town in the form of Kenny Hanlon and Lerosa, who'll be playing back to back, side to side and eh front to front ALL NIGHT LONG on the main floor of Electric on Friday 12th August.
Since everyone's ass is broke as heck after July we'll also make it FREE in from 10-11, €5 between 11 and 12, and €8 there after. Who loves you?
Not familiar? Get familiar right here. For the lucky few that are unacquainted with Kenny Hanlon thus far, do yourself a favour and stop reading here. For those that know, Hanlon has been a mainstay on the better side of Irish club land for the past 15+ years and is one of the most reverred selectors on this small isle we call home. He's played at Bloc, he co-ran the Gary's Gang parties in Dublin and his mixes are always an impressive blend of a little bit of everything- be it old, new, Electro, Disco or Italo, Hanlon's style places the music at the forefront of things with little regard for genre pigeon-holing. Unless of course the sole focus is on one artist- which he can do expertly too (check out the Massive Carl Mixtape for Bloc or his Robert Hood mix). The feen knows what's good. Oh, and he also runs one of our all time fav record labels too- Apartment Records. There's been some quality releases from the likes of Tr-One, Vernon, Steve Legget and... Lerosa!
Lerosa, who's up there with Fior De Latte, Falanghina and Aperitivi in our list of all time fav Italian imports has been steadily releasing killer tracks for the past 10+ years over a wide range of seroiusly hot labels including Lerato's Uzuri imprint, Berghain in-house Ostgut Ton, the now defunct D1, and Photic fields, the stellar Electro leaning Dutch label. A criminally under-rated producer and DJ, one can hear traces of classic Electro, Detroit Techno, Chicago House, Hip Hop, Synth Pop and Italo wound into his productions, and it's these influences that come to the fore in his DJ sets. He, like Kenny, also has mad skills behind the decks to boot, so we're really actually struggling to imagine how good a time it's going to be hearing them play b2b for 4+ hours. A pretty dayum good one. Come down yourself and see, after all... It's Free!
