2016 has been an incredible year for On the 5th Day, crammed with some amazing moments firmly filed away in our memory bank! What better way to close the On the 5th Day year than with this sterling line up promising you yet another night of quality, unrelenting techno and a truly devoted crowd.
Avian curator and rebel musician, Shifted is a producer with many faces. In just a few years since his first release on Luke Slater’s Mote-Evolver imprint, the UK artist successfully managed to develop his own distinctive voice within the constantly evolving techno genre. Soon after his 2011 debut he set up the Avian imprint together with fellow UK producer Ventress – an outlet bringing focus to a more stripped back and textured side of British techno. In his versatility as an artist, there is a steadfast dedication to a perpetual movement forward -- arguably leaving Shifted to embody a pure, unadulterated spirit of what it means to be an electronic musician: treading new territories with a fascination and fixation to craft brilliance with a new noise.
Idealism is the driving force behind all of Milton Bradley’s thoughts and moves – a fact especially prevalent in his musical output. With years of experience in Berlin’s electronic music scene, Bradley has built up a reputation as a decisive and forward-thinking artist with a versatile yet thriving sound. With various flourishing projects at hand as well as releases on other well-respected labels like Prologue, MDR, Ann Aimee and more, Milton Bradley has become one of the most promising producers within the genre, whose dystopian, industrial-influenced and tripping sounds are also representative of his internationally-acclaimed DJ sets.
Samuli Kemppi comes from a small city in Finland, but geographical distance hasn’t stopped him from becoming one of Europe’s leading techno producers. Having worked as a DJ since the early 90s, Samuli started to produce music at the start of the new millennium. He breaks boundaries and delivers fresh mixture of times past and days yet to come. His influences range from Kraftwerk and Depeche Mode to Sahko Records and recent Sleeparchive releases. His sound is described as icy cold techno style, a controlled exercise in minimal techno devastation, bass-heavy jacker grooves with shivering hihats and floating atmospheres.
Samuli also works with the Deep Space Helsinki project together with his old friend Juho Kusti. Initially a weekly radio show, it has grown into a series of parties with the same name in Helsinki, and also a record label.
