Shiny Shoes pres. Portable AKA Bodycode (LIVE / SA / !K7 / Live at Robert Johnson)
Support from Laura Ingalls (FR / Co:Motion) and Miki Discosnot (GER / SHSHSH Slowmance)
Portable AKA Bodycode’s music is an amalgamation of influences: raised in a Cape Town township, coming of age in London, departing to Berlin before finally settling in Paris. The result is deeply syncopated dance music that's hard to categorize but stands for something, blending his African heritage with the first wave of Chicago house. It's seen him release on some of the most significant house and techno labels of the last decade (Zip's Perlon and Live at Robert Johnson; he's been a regular guest at the iconic Frankfurt club for years) and perform at Berghain, Contact in Tokyo, Rex and Concrete in Paris, and Dance Tunnel and Freerotation in the UK.
Bodycode, his dance floor-centric project, exists somewhere between the beats for the body and melody for the soul. Under this moniker, he's released minimalistic yet textured albums laced with emotional vocals, existing in the wide space between house and techno. It came as no surprise when the epic deep house cut “Surrender” was prominently featured on DJ Koze's fantastic DJ-Kicks mix.
Fresh off releasing an introspective self-titled album on !K7 to critical acclaim, we are excited to bring you a live performance by this alluring artist with the support by the ever enchanting purveyor of solid beats, Laura Ingalls of Co:Motion and SHSHSH's own German deep house dynamo Miki Discosnot.
