With Summer finally in sight and with the end of exams just around the corner, it’s time for us to announce Flux’s annual Summer send-off down at the Beaver Works! We are thrilled to announce that headlining the daytime element of the event will be the highly anticipated Harvey Sutherland and Bermuda, a three piece live band led by Harvey showcasing instrumental jazz-inflected disco, who are making their debut tour of Europe this Summer. The band will be ably supported by Futureboogie and Love International festival head honcho, Dave Harvey. In the basement, we are very excited to welcome one of the UK’s finest house exports of recent years, Palms Trax, alongside Berlin-based disco queen Paramida, who tore the terrace to pieces at Flux’s show at Studio 338 last Summer. In the main room, esteemed Bavarian label Ilian Tape will be taking over, with label founders the Zenker Brothers heading up proceedings, supported by the imprint’s secret weapon, Skee Mask.

Jay Donaldson, aka Palms Trax, is a producer and Dj based in Berlin, Germany. What began as an experiment in pad-driven Detroit workouts soon became Palms Trax's calling card, the young producer building valve-heated, dust-treated slabs of house in his home studio, shot through with melodic synths and smooth, undulating drum patterns that recalls the likes of Legowelt, John Heckle, Tevo Howard, and Nu-Groove era Burrell Brothers. His first record was released in October of 2013 on London-based imprint Lobster Theremin and he has gone on to deliver acclaimed releases for Dekmantel, including most recently the High Point On Low Ground EP. He has developed an international reputation for his deftly constructed DJ sets and we are very excited to welcome him to Flux.
Since the late seventies, the Bavarian capital has been a non-dwindling source of advanced musical creativity. Right now, it’s time for the Zenker Brothers to emerge from this solid foundation, and share a vision with their own definition of contemporary dance music. It was the elder brother, Dario, who first found his way into Munich’s flourishing scene of electronic dance music during the late 90s. His first set of turntables was a gift from his parents at the age of fifteen and he quickly found himself at the other side of the dance floor. In 2006 his younger brother Marco, who also was an enthusiastic supporter of hip-hop and reggae music and a talented skateboarder, went to see Dario perform and fell in love with the unique vibe of techno and house parties. In 2007 they founded the label Ilian Tape with some long lasting friends, in order to establish a platform for their own productions, and in 2012 they started playing their notorious B2B sets. Rooted in the legacy of Detroit and techno, house, dub, rap music and breakbeats, the two brothers managed to define their own trademark sound over the years with their own productions, and their own way of running a label by building a foundation with patience. Besides focusing on Ilian Tape they have released records on such notable labels as Tresor or Marcel Fengler’s IMF imprint. The brothers never forget their roots, where they came from and the essential meaning of a well-known Munich proverb: “Live and let live”, so furthermore they transcend the musical legacy of their hometown into the new millennium, shaping and forming it the Zenkerian way towards something very unique and – even more important – connective.
Mike Katz aka Harvey Sutherland is a studio producer and disco minimalist from Melbourne. The producer and keyboard player has worked steadily since 2013, releasing a handful of coveted records for People’s Potential Unlimited, MCDE and Voyage Recordings. Operating from a red-velour-lined recording bunker, Harvey Sutherland brings studio traditions and session musicians to the foreground. Sharing the name of his breakout 12”, ‘Bermuda’ is Sutherland’s live band - a futurist outfit comprising Melbourne musicians Graeme Pogson (drums) and Tamil Rogeon (electric strings). The trio interpret Sutherland’s productions with flair and relentless consistency, bringing a unique energy to the club space. “Priestess/Bravado” from Harvey Sutherland and Bermuda - the label debut for Sutherland’s Clarity Recordings - was a runaway success, with support from The Black Madonna, Red Greg and Prins Thomas and critical praise from The Guardian and Resident Advisor. The follow-up EP “Expectations” treads new territory for the Melbourne producer – spanning Harvey’s rhythmic influences from the West Coast to West End Records. Clarity Recordings is his record label and collaborative studio project. It will champion modern Australian records, with Harvey Sutherland back in his natural habitat – the producer’s chair.
Paramida made her name as an integral part of the new Berlin school of DJs embracing a more expansive sound than straight forward house and techno. Now most well known for her stellar label, Love on The Rocks, Paramida has managed to carve out a globe trotting DJ career based purely on her skills as a party starting DJ. In fact, Love on The Rocks can actually be seen as a clear statement of musical intent, with all of the music presented being handpicked by Paramida, and aptly showcasing her discofied tropical leanings, and her love for the more skewed side of house Music. Sharpening her tastes over 5 years as a mainstay at Berlin's world famous OYE Records, and making her name as originally as a resident at Renate, Paramida can now be found regularly playing in such hallowed haunts as Panorama Bar, Frankfurt's Robert Johnson and Croatia's Garden / Love International Festival, as well as all over Europe, The US and Central America.
Skee Mask is a versatile producer from Munich, who doesn’t want to be identified. He has been influenced by a lot of different types of music over the last years, which has made his productions pretty varied. Skee Mask’s direction is mostly rolling rhythms, combined with electronic soundscapes, always forcing to create a deep vibe. His influences mainly are from “old” techno labels like Chain Reaction, Warp Records or Counterbalance. He is continuing to develop his own “process” in making tracks, but always stays true to himself. In his DJ sets he tries to create a deep trip, constituted of organic grooves and diverse clang accompaniments. Skee Mask would describe his DJ-set variations as techno, ambient and mostly experimental - forward thinking. His album “Shred” received great critical acclaim and was voted number 3 in the best albums of 2016 rankings by Resident Advisor.
Dave’s time at the helm of Futureboogie has undoubtedly influenced him as a DJ. The resultant wealth of quality music to which he is exposed blends seamlessly with a deep knowledge of house, disco, Balearic and boogie for far-reaching sets that have seen him rack up bookings the world over at venues including Fabric, Salon Zur Wilde Renate, D Edge and countless others. Whilst not behind the decks, Dave plays an instrumental role in the brand new Love International festival – which takes the place of The Garden Festival – as head booker, as well as acting as lead for programmer The Wow! stage at Glastonbury Festival and as a director of fledgling dance weekender Love Saves The Day in his native Bristol. IWith the debut of Love International moving into view and Team Love and with that Love Saves The Day continuing to expand in size and scope, the Futureboogie empire shows no signs of slow down, and nor does Dave.
