Fresh on the heels of our last night with our good friends over @ We Concur, we’re very pleased to announce our 2nd night of 2017, and 3rd in less than 3 months at Haggerston’s cosiest techno gaff, Shelter club. As has become customary for our nights there, expect cleverly placed neon (with a particularly special addition this time round), a crowd so lovely you end up amassing loads of spurious FB friends that you don't speak to again until the next one, and of course, our unique blend of fun and atmospheric house & techno.
Our headliner in the main room this time round is one half of the duo, VVerses (Más Black), from one of London’s most rapidly rising record labels, Chapter 24 records. Their impressive list of releases features the likes of Petar Dundov, John Monkman & Tim Engelhardt and more recently an 11-track album from the much hyped, Masaya - along with her EP (Borderline) which contains a remix by Patrice Baumel that gets us a bit giddy here at Maze – not to mention a number of very thoughtful tracks and remixes from the boys themselves. In their words,‘Chapter 24 is a melodic house and techno record label bringing you music, art and verse with heart and soul above all else’, which we think sounds like a splendid fit for Maze.
Maze founders, Alex and James plus long-time stalwart, Jack Waltham will be providing the supporting cast as normal. A night is nothing without the consistency of its residents :)
Downstairs our good friends from Skirmish Blog will be bringing another packed line-up to the basement, for those who like their tunes more uptempo:
When Julien Caraz aka Monster X takes to the stage, a monster is truly unleashed.
Watching him head butt his way through a myriad of midi controllers and self built Reaktor modules is one of the finest things any fan of extreme and abrasive music can witness.
Monster X has gained notoriety worldwide, both as a live performer and recorded artist.
Fedka The Irritant
Fedka The Irritant aka Tom Marriott is one of the UK's most idiosyncratic producers
On stage Tom has his Trombone wired up to many effects pedals and plays this live throughout his set, creating sumptuous and caustic sounds, which blend into his original compositions, all stitched together Live. Above all, Fedka The Irritant is most definitely designed to fill the dance floor appealing to both the avid electronic music connoisseur and the party goer alike.
Erstwhile Takeover Recordings man thatboytim keeps the funk at the heart of what promises to be an irreverent collision of electro, acid, techno and old skool, the guy is a true music aficionado.
A Dublin born DJ and producer, P-Hocto is a vinyl fanatic who separates himself from the homogenised masses by playing a killer selection of new and old tracks across the various styles of techno, electro and bass music that most appeal to him. Whether dark and deep, weird and wonky, glitched out and sublime or simply pounding, one thing is for sure, you won’t find any filler here.
Kenny Skirmish will kick off proceedings on the night with some weird and wobbly techno.
There will be a limited number of £5 tickets online, rising to £7 thereafter and £10 on the door.
See you on the floor!
