Industrial techno fans rejoice: one of the UK scene's rising stars makes his Australian debut alongside a handful of Sydney's best.Line-up /
Ansome finds himself well-poised. A relatively new name in UK techno, he's beginning to see the fruits of a couple years of hard work spent running two labels: Discos Dead from 2013 until 2014 and now South London Analogue Material (S.L.A.M.), a platform for both his own releases and those of like-minded producers.
A university student whose background lies in electronic music and sound design, Kieran Whitefield, moved to London for study, with the city becoming the centre of his musical interests as he immersed himself in the sounds of fellow Londoner Ali Wells, aka Perc, and his Perc Trax label, which has risen to international acclaim in recent years by pushing its sound in ever harsher and more experimental directions.
Today, Ansome emerges as one of the noisiest, pursuing gritty sonics through hardware-based, industrial-leaning experimentation that has been well-documented in videos of his scorching live PA sets.
About Big Ting
Here at Big Ting Recordings, we believe prejudice should not be held against genre or tempo. We observe an area of music neglected by the influx of labels fighting to put our country on the map. A style of electronic music production which pays homage to its origins, yet pushes all boundaries; these are the deeper, darker vibes. Big Ting Recordings strives to create exposure for the many talented artists working to develop Sydney's specific bass sound. Be it Techno, Drum & Bass, Dubstep, or Jungle, Big Ting Recordings does not alienate any style of bass music, we celebrate all sounds pushing the lines of darkness and minimalism.
It is our goal to introduce this city to the sounds its electronic music scene is so sorely missing, and help our local talented producers show the world what we can do.
As a Sydney collective, it is without any hesitation that we are involved in the holy fight over our city's nightlife. We are avid supporters of both Reclaim the Streets and Keep Sydney Open, and have protested with heart alongside both of these great organisations. Our free party series, Rivet, is in active defiance of these archaic laws. We will not stop fighting until we reclaim our once great city.
