The legendary urban myth that is RIP (Clink Street '88) returns on Saturday 8th July 2017. Spanning 3 decades of promoting and producing experimental dance music; Acid, House, Techno and Dub. RIP "Revolution in Progress" has always been about pushing boundaries and as such, will continue to do so at this exclusive event, featuring the original underground music from Clink Street ’88 together with the cutting edge music of tomorrow!
Mr.C: One of the original residents of RIP at Clink Street in 1988 has gone on to make huge ripples in the dance music world having been front man, songwriter & producer of The Shamen. Mr.C then went on to form Plink Plonk Records with RIP founder Paul Rip. After this C opened the legendary nightclub The End, runs his Superfreq label & throws international events of the same name.
Colin Dale: A key member of the pirate radio station Kiss FM he pursued a career in music and the "Abstrakt Dance" radio show was born. For 16 years "Abstrakt Dance" was a ground-breaking show which quite simply bought Techno to the masses. Colin became a household name in Techno circles Worldwide. It was the first ever Techno show to be transmitted live with visuals and it became a revolution in underground electronic music. It was around this time that Colin teamed up with Brenda Russell and Colin Faver to do the "Deep Space" series of clubs in London which again saw the team take London's Techno scene to new highs. Other club nights that Colin has been involved in include Electric Boogie, Vapour Space, Deep and Jelly. Colin continues with his record label "Abstrakt Dance” with some formidable artists and releases behind it.
Murf: A vinyl junkie, an ambassador for electronic music during a hedonistic 30 year career as a DJ at seminal clubs and events worldwide. Having worked alongside the likes of Suburban Knight, Jeff Mills, Stacey Pullen, Tyrree Cooper, Juan Atkins, Derrick May and both Colin Dale and Mr. C to name a few. The list of clubs are endless and his power as a DJ globally is seismic. Here he appears as a special treat alongside Mr. C and Colin Dale once again. This will prove to be an exceptional night of choice sounds between heavyweight mixers and originators working in both domains of vinyl and digital reproduction.
Junq (live): Junq’s love for electronic music started in the early 80’s and in time created his own unique style and sound influenced by Kraftwerk. Fascinated by Acid music and the driving beats of Electro along with the early Hardcore Breakbeat scene he went about discovering electronic music inside out. Involved in the warehouse scene and pirate radio in the late 80’s led him to purchase a couple of Roland TB-303’S, a SH-101, a TR-606 drum machine and a small mixer, these coupled with effects units. Junq is a definitive sound and more recently has released on his new label "Art Mechanical”, as well as the reputed “Brokntoys” imprint. He is currently involved in a project with Revoke Records and with many more projects in the pipeline.
Leigh Dickson: Leigh has grown through the ranks from Electro, Early Hip-Hop, the beginnings of House, Acid and Drum & Bass, all running alongside a deep love of Techno. A DJ with a passion for early 90's Detroit and UK deep techno with appearances on the Techno Radio Station “Timeline” as well as a regular slot on Rotterdam base “Pure Radio”, “Optical Radio”, “Estimulo Show” and currently on “Static” on “HoxtonFM". An accomplished producer with releases on "Qube” records, the reissue collaborations with Baby Ford & Ryan Elliott remix of “Praise" on "Pariter/Sushitech Records” and more recently “Verdent” recordings. Expect some deep techno/Electro from this very talented DJ /Producer!
Hijacker vs Eugene Black: Hijacker first hit the scene as DJ Laggy in the late 80s. He went on to make the most amazing Techno as one half of Megalon and as Hijacker has made a slew of Techno, Tech House and authentic Electro as well as electronic future Drum & Bass. Eugene Black is Paul Rip, the man behind RIP at Clink Street, Mr.C's partner with Plink Plonk Records with subsidiary Techno labels EAR, Lo Voltage and Drum & Bass label Autoi. Paul has recorded as Underground Science, Krypto and now as both Black Arts Circus on his Specimen label and as Eugene Black on Superfreq. Together they will be playing Drum & Bass infused Dub and to finish Eugene will be playing a minimal dub techno set.
Kumo: Jono Podmore aka Kumo (Psychomat) is a master musician and technician who creates his own individual style of abstract experimental sound. Kumo has been at the forefront of underground music specialising in Broken Beats since ’92. He has releases on Plink Plonk, Autoi and Specimenrecords, has worked with Irmin Schmidt of “Can" and is a collaborator of Metamono who’s manifesto reeks of excellence along with the music he creates! An alchemist who stirs the cauldron of sound in his own unique way!
Joel O'Beirne: A drummer for 80's indie icons "The Flatmates", drummer for “Dub Band" sound system, DJ for "Jesus Jones", DJ for "Final Frontier” (Universe Crew). His most prestigious activities were with "Mega Dog" crew playing Dub music at all their festivals and "The Rocket”. He was the DJ and promoter for "Club Cod" and more importantly head honcho for "21st Century Dubclash". Joel has been making and playing music for 4 decades and will be playing the most underground retro Roots Dub Reggae. His selection is quite mind blowing with a depth that could only come from someone who has been into Roots Reggae and culture since it's inception. Joel's vast knowledge of Roots music will be clearly demonstrated at this event!
