GET YOUR WADSWORTH!!!
Detroit’s Kris Wadsworth rolls into town as part of his European tour and we are lucky enough to have just been included. This is a very short notice gig but hey, its Kris Wadsworth so who cares? He is a man who simply doesn’t know how to stop and with DJ’s such as Laurent Garnier, Jimpster, Manuel Tur, Charles Webster, Ashley Beadle and well… too many more to mention, regularly tearing dance floors to shreds with his records, this guy is well on his way to greatness.
There are not many cities that can rank as high as Detroit when considering influences upon dance music. Having held such luminaries as Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson and Carl Craig as residents it is a city rich with musical integrity. Kris Wadsworth will very soon be joining Detroit’s rich hall of fame list so don’t miss out on this chance to see him headline the intimate red den that is 54.
Kris has been producing music since the tender age 14 and now some of the world’s most respected labels have him on board. His remixes are nothing to sneeze at either, gaining relentless plays from the brightest and best. A person who definitely stands out in an era of over-saturation and pretentiousness, Kris offers you a bold introspective and retrospective look at why you fell in love with this music in the first place. KW does genre-defying, dense, lush, emotive, sexy music that is instantly recognized. From dub-esque textures and wanderings, to square bass rockers, to large peak-time destroyers; the young blood of Detroit Techno City knows what he is doing. Some call it house; some call it techno. To those who know, it ‘s called dance music.
As a DJ, Kris Wadsworth is a vinyl junky. He started playing Detroit warehouse parties at the ripe old age of sixteen alongside techno and house royalty from around the world. As that era finally died, he moved to playing clubs and after-hours spots even when he was not even old enough to get in; paying his dues in the city that started it all. Since then, getting bookings at some of the world’s most prestigious clubs is what has naturally followed. Kris’s sets usually move through a fittingly wide range of 4/4 genres with the utmost tact and class. No fancy tricks, or cheats; just the essential, time-tested skill and art of mixing records.
Joining Kris on the night is Prologue resident and new 54 Music signing Nick Dare. Nick Dare’s music productions have been winning worldwide accolade over the last few years, and with over 15 years DJ experience and his innate ability to read the crowd; Nicks DJ sets encompass a sublime mix of jacking underground house and tech grooves not to be missed.
In 2001 Nick launched Reform Recordings, a label renowned for pushing quality underground house, achieving worldwide sales in vinyl and digital format and regularly featuring in the review pages of DJ, IDJ, DMC, Update, M8, TTR, Resident Advisor and 365 Mag. Reform has also received Club and Radio support from DJ’s and producers such as X-Press 2, Tom Stephan, John Digweed, Rui Da Silva, Paul Woolford, Terry Francis, Kenny Hawkes, Stuart Patterson and Meat Katie.
This is THE night to catch Kris Wadsworth in London as we bring him live and direct to Shoreditch for a night truly aimed at those in the know of Proper dance music.
