Joy Orbison’s brand of garage-house has been celebrated for finding a sound that marries elements of house, two-step, jungle, techno and dubstep. Alongside the release of the gargantuan “Hyph Mngo” (released on Hot Flush in late 2009) and material on his own imprint, Hinge Finger, notorious mixes for Radio 1 and Ministry have only served to cement Joy Orbison’s renown.”The clear, pure dancefloor high this formula provides is unarguable” WIRE ”Somehow euphoric yet mournful, banging yet sad, drenched in keyboards, and rhythmically straddling the previously uncharted terrain between dubstep, garage and house.” – Guardian” A euphoric and percussive wet dream.” – Dazed & Confused ”Every time the two introductory notes ring out in a darkened room, it’s impossible not to stifle a smile or hide your excitement at the drop that awaits.” – Resident Advisor
Jon Rust is a real DJ’s DJ. Often hand picked by many tastemakers to feature alongside them, Jon has a reputation as a fiercely diverse selector with the skills, experience and confidence to translate his evolving tastes to the dance floor.
It’s now becoming obvious that Rust’s pedigree gained in the London scene affords him licence to bring just whatever he feels appropriate to the dance, wherever it is that he plays.
A born and bred Londoner Jon learned the ropes working at the legendary Plastic People, Rinse FM and Tempa, also running parties as Standard Place (alongside Oneman and Reecha) one of the first crew of DJs asked to take part and perform on Boiler Room.
Soon after that, as a resident at NTS radio (Rust has been broadcasting on the station since the station’s first week on air), Rust has been able to gain fans from around the globe.
Now Rust is turning heads with his own imprint – Levels through which he has released music from the likes of Lord Tusk and Ajukaja & Andrevski, winning him the support of tastemakers as diverse as Ron Morelli, Benji B and Jamie XX, (who he supported on his European “Colours” Tour in 2015).
“Undoubtedly one of London’s finest” – Boiler Room
“No Boring Intros on NTS is essential radio listening” – FACT Magazine
