  • Recently RA held a competition on the site for its users to win a copy of Get Physical's newest compilation, Final Song—a project that sought to find out which track some of the world's most successful DJs and producers would want to hear on their deathbed or played at their own funeral. As RA's William Rauscher wrote in his review of the disc, it's "an excellent compilation of songs (which you could probably have guessed from the idea alone) but the very character of its concept and the choices that follow open up a whole field of reflections on the roles that music plays in human life." Aside from giving away copies of the album, though, the aforementioned competition also allowed some of our readers the opportunity to ask any artist that appeared on the compilation yet another question. A sort of "what song would you play if…" game. Here are the results: What song would you listen to whilst driving in the back of a police car (after being arrested)? -- Andrei Ancevski Coldcut's Matt Black: Ian Dury's "Hit Me with Your Rhythm Stick Which piece, having only one available, would you listen to during a rainy night journey by car between 3-4am? -- Frederico Cataldo Laurent Garnier: To say I will have only one piece to choose from, and only one hour... I will take a track that lasts for the whole hour, so it will have to be Gavin Bryars' "Jesus' Blood Never Failed Me Yet." What song would you listen to whilst celebrating a Bayern win? -- Michael Gaffney DJ Hell: "So ein tag so wunderschön wie heute so ein tag der sollte nie vergehen." (Which roughly translates to "Such a day as beautiful as today, such a day that will never decay.") I don't know the artist. What song would you listen to whilst you were on a night out then went home alone and were still up for a party but were alone in your home? -- Marc Hilton Richie Hawtin: Michael Mayer's Immer Our thanks go out to both the artists and the RA users that contributed.
