  • Following the success of the sophomore edition of Beck's Berlin Sessions in Australia earlier this year, organisers at Future Classic headquarters have released dates for the second 2009 tour. This time around, the dates will feature Isolée, Solomun and Arto Mwambé, and will once again take place in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide. As the name suggests, Berlin Sessions aims to showcase the sounds of German electronic music, with an emphasis not only on established artists, but artists on the rise as well. Isolée represents the former, having been one of minimal house's leading lights since the late '90s. Solomun, co-founder of the Diynamic label, and Arto Mwambé, AKA Phillip Lauer and Chris Bessingwenger, are the new jacks. They'll each be making their debut Australian performances, with Solomun touring just weeks before the September release of his debut full-length. Mwambé will only be representing by one-half of the production team for DJing duties, but that shouldn't matter much: The duo are both capable DJs, with sets that reflect their last few years of dabbling in disco and deep house, while consistently maintaining a firm grounding in minimal. Those that have made it down to either of the previous tours know exactly what to expect: Quality European house and techno, backed by a first-class lineup of locals.
