  • The New Year's Day plans for Melbourne venues Brown Alley and La Di Da have been revealed, seeing local institutions Darkbeat, Sunny and Mixed Messages combine to put together a house, progressive and breaks-focused line-up. Primarily taking place at Brown Alley, the party will also spread to the plush enclosures of the nearby La Di Da. Chicago house force Derrick Carter is set to headline the night time festivities, with support coming from a cast of international guests. Australian ex-pat and progressive aficionado Anthony Pappa will be making a rare return to Melbourne, while Matthias Meyer will be showcasing his Liebe*Detail-approved blend of techy but melodic house. In the breaks department, Elite Force, Rennie Pilgrem and Skool Of Thought will all be on show, while additional internationals are set to be added in the coming weeks. Derrick Carter's Melbourne appearance comes twelve months after his extensive Australian tour earlier this year. So far, no other Australian dates for 2010 have been announced. Matthias Meyer, on the other hand, will be playing a string of dates, getting started with a New Year's Day morning boat cruise in Sydney.
