Metro Area and Francois K to headline Discoteca

- The party at London's matter club will see the New York residents joined by Jamie Lidell, Optimo and Disco Bloodbath, amongst others.
- matter will launch their in-house disco extravaganza on Saturday 30th January, which goes by the name of Discoteca. They certainly aren't pulling any punches for their launch party, which sees the club jam packed with some of the biggest names in the contemporary disco scene. Morgan Geist and Darshan Jesrani's Metro Area project needs no introduction, and they'll be bringing their crates of vintage wax over from New York to showcase the DJing skills that we were able to sample on 2008's Fabric 43 mix CD. General dance music aficionado Francois K will also make the trip from his home in the Big Apple, and will no doubt play a more retro-flavoured set than usual for his main room slot. Italians Do It Better will also be in town for a triple-act showcase, with label manager Mike Simonetti set to take to the decks, while Desire and Glass Candy—both vehicles for Italo and disco-obsessed producer Johnny Jewel—will both perform live. Jamie Lidell wraps up the guest performances in room one with another live set, while the second arena has more of a focus on the UK scene. London's Disco Bloodbath crew will host proceedings (with all three of their members making appearances) and they'll be joined by Glaswegian genre-splicers Optimo for an extended session of disco delights and other assorted oddities.
