  • Jamal Moss, AKA Hieroglyphic Being is set to release Compositeurs Sans Frontieres on Music from Mathematics, a sublabel of Mathematics Recordings. Moss says that during the past 14 years he recorded over 1,000 experimental electronic compositions, resulting in what he refers to as the Somuchnoise2beheard Soundbook, hence the title of his 2009 full-length So Much Noise 2 Be Heard. Compositeurs Sans Frontieres collects 12 more of these pieces, all of which were recorded between 1996 and 1999 at The Galaxy Studios in Chicago. Corresponding by email over the weekend, Moss described the album to Resident Advisor as "mainly designed for the adventurous listener or the obscure selector willing 2 take chances with something that's not considered Industry Certified." Each copy of Compositeurs Sans Frontieres will be packaged in a blue plastic case with handmade cover art, and will come with an "old school DIY poster... Like how old ska / Synth Punk bands / Experimental composers use to do it with cassette tapes back in the mid-'70s." It will be the fifth limited edition CD-r release on Music from Mathematics, and the second to be released so far this year, following Conversations In An Analog Dialect (Galaxy Studio Sessions 2004), which hit stores last month.
