  • Later this month, esteemed London label Rough Trade will release Synth Wave 10, a compilation surveying the current indie electronic scene. Synth Wave 10 highlights 20 artists who Rough Trade consider to be at the forefront of "electronic and new wave pop." Though many of the acts are relatively obscure, big names like Cold Cave, Crystal Castles and Fever Ray also feature. Minimal Wave curator Veronica Vasicka makes an appearance alongside Minus producer Marc Houle as 2vm, with a previously unreleased track called "Ponika." Glass Candy member and Italians Do It Better co-founder Johnny Jewel contributes "Don't Call," a track he released earlier this year on vinyl with the group Desire. Representing the blissed-out genre known as chillwave is American producer Earnest Greene, AKA Washed Out. Synth Wave 10 will be a CD-only release, with a limited edition version in a varnished sleeve available exclusively through Rough Trade shops. For a sneak peek of the collection, check out Fever Ray's cover of "Stranger Than Kindness" by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds over on The Quietus. Tracklist 01. Ye Olde Maids - Cocoa Cherubs 02.
