  • Richie Hawtin has teamed up with online production platform Burn Studios for a Plastikman remix competition, in which the winner will have their tune released on the digital release of Arkives. Contestants will remix "Ask Yourself," a selection from Plastikman's 2003 album Closer and a staple of his new live act. All of the tune's individual elements—bassline, strings, vocals, etc.—are available for download right here on RA, so contestants can rebuild the tune from the ground up. Hawtin will personally review the submissions and release the winning remix digitally on Arkives. Naturally, there will be a haul of prizes as well. The winner will get a 2,500 euro gift voucher from Avid, the company behind M-Audio and Pro Tools, plus a free SoundCloud pro account. Five runners up will each receive M-Audio Torq MixLab, M-Audio's Avid Recording Studio and a SoundCloud lite account. Submissions for the contest begin today and will be accepted through December 31st.
