  • Half a year since financial troubles forced it to shut its doors, matter will reportedly be back in operation sometime early next year. Located in Greenwich's o2 arena, matter launched in 2008 as a massive sister club to fabric. With three floors, a "body kinetic dance floor" and space for 2,600 people, the venue was a highly ambitious project that ultimately fell short of expectations, due in part to its non-central location and problems with the Jubilee line (as fabric co-founder Cameron Leslie said last summer, "60% of the weekends it was open, you couldn't get there.") The club finally closed its doors last May and went into administration, briefly bringing fabric with it. Resident Advisor can now reveal that matter is poised for a comeback. The venue will be run by AEG, the company that owns the o2 center, and will no longer have any association with fabric. Contrary to rumors stemming from a recent post on Gumtree, it's unlikely that the venue will open before late January at the earliest. Details on the exact opening date and first events are still forthcoming, and will be posted here as soon as they are available.
