  • Queen Elizabeth Hall will host an event next Friday with DFA staple Juan Maclean. The American artist first made a name for himself with his synth-heavy dance punk band, The Juan Maclean, but in the past couple of years he's been boosting his profile as a DJ as well, thanks in part to his 2010 edition of DJ Kicks. If that mix is a fair indication, expect Maclean to whip up a vocal-heavy blend of indie, disco and '90s house when he takes to the decks next weekend. The rest of the bill is heavy on live acts: Matias Aguayo will perform alongside fellow Coméme artist Daniel Maloso, following a set from Warp outfit The Hundred In the Hands, who you may know from their single "Pigeons" (the one with the video where the girl pukes sparks). Local DJ Stopmakingme provides the night's support. The event begins at the decent hour of 8:30 PM in the Front Room of Queen Elizabeth Hall. It's the first in a series of parties at Southbank Centre, presented in part by Trouble Tune.
