- James Ginzburg and Paul Purgas have a new experimental bass LP due out on Subtext.
Bristol-based duo Emptyset will release a new album called Demiurge later this month.
Emptyset is made up of Paul Purgas and James Ginzburg (AKA Ginz), the latter of whom co-founded Multiverse Music, a parent label to Tectonic, Earwax, Caravan, Subtext and others. Together they make records that are equal parts bass music and avant-garde techno; though they work primarily with syncopated, stepping rhythms, the duo have cited M-Plant, Sahko and Raster-Noton as influences, and recently collaborated with Underground Resistance vocalist Cornelius Harris on the single Altogether Lost, which came out in January on CLR. Demiurge will be their second full-length, following their 2009 self-titled debut. It comes out at the end of this month on Subtext, another sublabel of Multiverse.
